I like the idea of solar power, or solar heating/cooling. The biggest problem here where I live, it's so expensive and a lot of people just can't afford it. I offer solar heating in all of my swimming pool designs, but it adds about 5k to 8k to the price. which actually isn't too bad if someone would otherwise heat their pool with gas. They can generally amortize the cost in about 5 to 7 years. But solar electricity is very expensive. An average system for an average house is in the neighborhood of 50k.
