that's alright.. i mean you'd have to go *all the way back* to the first page in the thread. and it's *three whole pages* long now.

anyway: here's puce which you can then contrast with an even EARLIER post by leaf. just don't go expecting the ultimate in songfight forum comedy or anything, as you might be led to expect from the hype that has built up more recently in the thread.

Stay married might be a good second resolution which speaking from experience means your list is WAY to short.

Ultimately these two will contradict each other,
Nah, you just also have to add:
3. Stop sleeping
and the whole thing will work out ok.

I do need to add another one to my list, as some have pointed out:
2. Stay married

Oh dude, you should either go with the Allman brothers/Zappa style 'stache or if you wanna be super punk, go with the Rollie Fingers Handlebar. You can wax that shit out and there's even Handlebar Moustache Clubs! I've wanted to do this, but I look so stupid with a 'stache.
Plus when you're plotting diabolical plans, you cackle and twist your moustache. You know, evil things like tying people to the railroad tracks or outsmarting Sherlock Holmes, holmes.

My resolutions,
1) Continue working on my character defects.
2) Get back to my original writing/recording style. (Floyd, Beatles and Bowie all smushed into one)
3) Write a follow-up CD to the last one.
4) Do more for others.
5) Continue working out for another year.

p.s.
I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or cheat on my wife. Kinda takes all the fun resolutions out of it. Well, there is always pr0n. Nope, keeping it!

Fewer songs about my cat.
Fewer songs that scare my female friends.

Learn to sing more than zero notes.
Two out of three ain't bad!

well now that 2004 has ended, the coverfight is no longer a "current project" ... generic just needs a new year's resolution to complete "way overdue past projects" now.

Well, here we are a year later.

I did 1.
I really can't be bothered doing 2.
I don't understand 3.
4. and 5. seem to make sense - I'll carry them over for 2006

I think the only thing to add to this for next years resolutions would be:

Start drinking wine out of bottles rather than wine casks. (not that there is anything wrong with chateaux cardboard - but hell, I can afford it, and I'm not getting any younger - so let's enjoy life!)

How did everybody else's resolutions go?

I didn't make any resolutions, but I did get some interesting music stuff done in 2005.

1. Learned how to play guitar properly. No more C D and G songs for me! Sevenths and minors to the max!

2. Did 12 songs by myself for Songfight.

3. Did an AAD, and probably will do another one in the next few days.

4. Was in 4 different collabs (IRC All Stars, Cutie Pies, RSC, Zombie Love Militia)

5. Played live music infront of people.

6. Acquired a sparkly black acoustic guitar.

So, I guess it was a pretty good year for me musically. Next year I want to get a sparkly black electric guitar. And my aim is to do 30 original songs. I doubt that will happen, but oh well.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread, Ray. I've never written down resolutions then checked my performance against them before.

1. Done, moved into a 1 bedroom, though not a cottage/in-law.
2. Oops...
3. Hmmm... that's pretty subjective. I think I did alright this year, with a few winning Loyalty Day songs, some fun songs with Erin as Merisan, and a victory for Tiny Robots's first entry.
4. Sadly this didn't happen. Still, SF Live in Boston was exciting. I saw some old friends and made a bunch of new ones and performed my own songs solo for the first time.

For 2006:

1. Get to work on time, for real.
2. Travel abroad, for real.
3. Get a new job.
4. Come up with a "Web 2.0" startup idea that will make me rich...
5. Enter at least 6 more SongFight!s as Lunkhead.

I resolve to finish the SF Live video when I said I would.
I resolve to stop skipping kung fu practices.
I resolve to bake a new cake every Monday night until I run out of money, or until I run out of new cakes, whichever comes first.
I resolve to learn how to use Reason to make electronic music that I would listen to.
I resolve to use Bittorrent less.

Now, to get a head start on that first one...

NEW RESOLUTIONS:THE BIG PHAT UPDATE CAUSE I'M INTERNET LAZY

  • 1) Have studio space built to my liking and set up by June.BIG PHAT NO ON THAT ONE. Who knew buying a house included WORKING TO PAY FOR IT?
    2) Play a gig on guitar with a maximum of 3 mistakes. (I've only done two gigs so far, and man, did I suck on a personal level. People say it rocked, but people also snort coke and drink rye so... Wow. Guitar is hard to play without making mistakes. In 2006 I played a total of only six gigs as the lead player. It's gonna take a while...
    3) Go to songfight santa cruz. NOpe.
    4) do a collab with: molsen twins, gert, boon liver, bloody hams, caravan leaf, LEABLIT, (man I love that tune) , still waiting on a chance for an octothorpe drum session(course, gotta have drums set up and studio, but hey) and the beef animals track was pretty fun...but 8lo has seemed to have disappeared, and actually do a few leaf62 songs again... stop being a chicken bitch!!
Man. Not only did I not do ONE of these... I think I did... two songfights last year? not including Nur Ein...which literally killed my recording for a while... in a good way, but I was spent after that. I'm no Glenn...

    5) Get Dana (wife) to sing on a SF tune (we've been building up to this..she's sang a few tunes with the band at our last couple gigs, super fun having her right there singing away... oh yeah). Nopers.
    6) Learn how to properly dispense propane. Ok... jokes on you. I already knew how to do that.
    7) Go to a leafs game.
    8) play live with Gert. ACCOMPLISHED.

Well well well. Not so fuckin special are we their leafy?

This year's resolutions:

1. Enter every single songfight. (start big people).
2. See how much longer I can put up with an eye patch on my baby. DON'T YOU SNEER AT MY BABY.
3. Get REALLY hammered with gert online and sit in the IRC room and pretend know one knows its really us.
4. Get Jack to sign on to skype, quit acting like he doesn't know what it is, and hang out one evening via webcam and some dried vegetative matter.
5. Convince Bjam I am her long lost cousin. This may be difficult, don't tell her or you'll ruin it.
6. Forget about being in my mid thirties. We all get there...hopefully.
7. Gert Tour.
8. Make more money than I ever have before.
9. Write a musical work I'm proud of.
10. Enter more songfights than I ever have before in one year. Now.. that's attainable!
