I'm totally going to finish the reviews, but not tonight.

BUT~

I want to say my Best vote went to Glenn Case for ripping my face off with the metal. That was kick. ASS.

And the contenders for the coveted vote were, in no order:

Puce, Leaf62, Sven Mullet

All of you kicked some serious ass in this. Nice work!

..reviews to follow

...however, i would totally feel like a jerk if i didn't at least take the time to do a review for the guy who put enough time and effort into turning my mediocre composition into something like an actual work of art!

the idiot kings - the only thing i can say about this that is NOT overwhelmingly positive is i am a little bit unsure about the timing of the vocal melody at the beginning and end. and the only reason for that is, it just sounds different from the way i did it; that doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong or bad or anything, just different.

beyond that... i think i put more time into actually writing this song than i have put into most of my others, and i was rather proud of that aspect of it, but the actual recorded performance turned out pretty *meh* and the reviews i had gotten at the time reflected that pretty well...

so in this cover we have somebody who is a better singer than i am, and obviously more skilled at bringing out the emotion of the lyrics in the delivery, and also who is a better guitarist than i... but it's more than just the higher quality of the performance... i can tell you really dug deeply into this song and got the essence of what i was originally trying to convey, because i think it really shines through in the work you have done with it.

basically: thank you for taking this song and transforming it into something i can be proud of having written.

Thank's very much!
Unfortunately though I think my back catalogue may dissappoint if you're looking for more 'synth-pop' (except for maybe Chaos v Order....and my soon to be finished children's song, Food Fight)

Yeeha! (I can't tell who won. Supposedly the winner is in bold?)

The 12 songs with scores >75 make a great CD. This coverfight brought out the best in everyone.

What is there to his "song" other than a fucking chord progression?

Prolly would get a good, but it has nothing to do with the original song. I know it was a hard song to cover, but I wish you would've found a cooler solution rather than just writing a whole new song. [meh]
What the fuck did you people want me to do? A straight-up cover of his tune? A fucking drum machine, casio shit and stupid samples? That would have been better, eh?

What, pray tell, would you have done with it, Hack? Turned it into a fucking blues song?

That's like someone covering a solo voice a capella song with a full band, and saying "OMG TEH ORIGINAL DIDN'T HAVE A BAND [BADDDDD]"

Christ.

I can't tell who the winner is either. Last time it said "(winner!)" next to the winner's name. That was nice...

Anyway, congrats everybody. Lots of great music in this fight.

There's supposed to be a (winner) next to somebody, but that just calculates who got the most "best" votes. I don't know why that's not appearing on the page. The bar graph is a calculation of all the good/bad/didn't listen votes.

Obviously my win is being suppressed by the media!

Honestly, everybody wins...who cares?
And JB wins double for putting up with all the shit.

Oooooooh. I was wondering why you were acting like such a dick. Now I see -- it's the haircut!

Since you asked, I probably would've done a straight-up cover -- except try to make it sound more like Thievery Corporation. I would've thought that you of all people -- jack of all genres, master of none -- would've been down with something like that. Maybe use some different samples or something. Maybe even throw in some blues samples, if I found some that fit. It's not a bad song at all. You're acting like you got a LEF song.

So JB, not to be too annoying and whiny or anything, but since the "(winner)" label isn't showing up properly, can you just tell us who got the most "best" votes? The suspense is killing me!

I would have to count them by hand. So no, I can't. :) Maybe I'll spend five or ten minutes later trying to figure out the problem. Maybe.

Pretty noises vs. ugly noises. It's all noise.

There's no such thing as noise.

Well, noise in the sense of s/n ratio, yeah. But in the sense of "every sound is a part of Om," then not so much.

It seemed that way at first, but they seem to have cleaned up their act a bit. I'd have thought of WreckdoM right off, but truth is, no one is as bad as LEF was.
