I hope you are wrong too...we did have a miscarriage a year ago, and I of course had told everyone under the sun...you'd think I'd learn!
Oh well...nature is nature, what will be will be...I'm exuberantly confident I guess!
I still plan to be there either way!
Cheers!
I'm sure everything will go well - I just meant that once baby arrives, a lot of you plans may go out the window!
good luck
Thanks! Well, I'm sure you are right...but due to the infrequency and distinctly low-medium probability of these events happening close to me here in Canada, I'm committed to going no matter what!
now watch me eat these words....

I so want to go to this and there may just be nothing to stop in this world from going to this thing unless the evil and ruthless moontoe is coming, cuz then I'm sitting out. Hopefully it'll be a redcar kinda night. THC?! Leafy?!

Heya, I'm new to this songfight situation but just wanna say I live right in downtown Boston and play in two bands here (one: guitar, vox; the other: bass, vox). I'm down with this if it happens, would love to meet some of you folks and play a few tunes, solo acoustic, with bands or whatever. I might even be able to get an NYC songfighter or two to come up for that weekend...
Forgot to mention, I'll be playing some bass and singing harmonies at the Middle East upstairs on Friday March 4th, with the Jon Gorey band, as part of the Emergenza fest.

1. Cool, nice to have you on board and welcome to songfight!
2. Just to let you know, this is less 'if' and more 'when' at this point. We've done this type of thing as a community for 4 years now and this will be the fifth. Again, welcome to songfight and we welcome you to join with us.

sooo.... unless I've missed something, we still don't have a date yet.... which I hope is either a) untrue and I've just missed something or
b) yet to be determined.
I may not be speaking for many here, but the sooner a date is picked, the sooner redcar can confirm it's debut performance/meeting/impending reunion tour. As in, working in the fishing industry, the summer is the crazyiest time, so I gotta advance book... other commitments, yada yada... not to mention save up some dough!!
Anyhoo...powers that be...do you got a date yet or what?

Sooner a date sooner I can force my dad to buy me some plane tickets

Or drive me up. And find somewhere to stay, of course.

I'd prefer August, but I'll try my damnedest to make time for this whenever it happens. I'm only two hours out of town, so I really don't have any excuse.

August 12-14.
Unofficially, because I don't have it all finalized yet, but that seems to be the best time for everyone, so that is what I'm going to try and do. I've been a little busy recently, for which you can all blame the people who make Rome: Total War, but I should be able to die-cast that date soonly.

Yah, that was basically the only criterion I used to pick the four possible dates. Can't remember who they're playing though and am too lazy to look it up.

....that would work, theoretically, just gotta check when my parents are due to show up in their RV....
I imagine there must be some "jam wharehouses" in Boston....it'd be great to rent a jam room for a hugeo random personnel jam... just like the bunch of real musicians we are... of course, it'd blow if you all did that and I wasn't there though...

I know it's kinda early to be thinking about plane tickets for August, but I just booked the redeye non-stop flight to Boston on Jet Blue Airways to visit my Dad next weekend, and it was wicked cheap.
Since Jet Blue flights don't appear on Orbitz or Travelocity, you'd have to go directly to their site to check out their info:
http://www.jetblue.com/
Hope this info helps!!
These are Jet Blue non-stop flights to Boston as of today:
Long Beach, CA -> Boston, MA around $275 round trip
Oakland, CA around $260 round trip
Denver, CO around $190 round trip (yay for me!)
Ft. Lauderdale, FL around $170 round trip
Ft. Meyers, FL around $170 round trip
Tampa, FL around $150 round trip
Las Vegas, NV around $250 - $300 round trip

SONGFIGHT LIVE! Boston: Yanks and Cranks
SONGFIGHT LIVE! Boston: Clammy and Uncomfortable
or something with beans or chowder mentioned. I don't know.

Yup! I grew up about an hour south of Boston, and I had the thickest accent around too... that is, until I moved to Colorado for school and got laughed at as soon as I asked "Whey-ahs the wat-ah bubb-lah?" the first week of class. It was like my ears suddenly opened up and I became aware that there was no letter "AHH". (Also, that no one knew what a water bubbler was, even if I had said it the "right" way.)
("l m n o p q ahh s t u v...")

Now that we have the dates somewhat settled, can I suggest that we again have a 2 night format?
