By the way, everyone, there are now 14 people who've volunteered to contribute to Song Fight Orchestra, so for some of you it may be months before your turn comes up. I'm picking the volunteers pretty randomly, so there's no tellin' who's gonna be when.

That said, there's always room for more, if you're someone who's not on the list and wants to be.

i think it could be funny down the road somewhere if someone just sampled from the previous entries. to create some sort of recurring theme to it. created some sort of chorus maybe or latent motif, but still made it relevent to the week they were songfighting. that would be a good challenge.

This might be cool as a year ender with a bunch of loops from all the submissions thus far or something or other with a cool chorus instilled from everyone who had done one. Good idea Jack!

Or that could also serve as an overture to be added afterwards, but used at the beginning. Sounds promising. What does Jim think?

Yeah, that sounds really cool. But I would prefer actual recorded reprises of existing material, rather than cut-and-pasted audio sampling. To keep the whole thing organic. Yeah, that's a great idea. If someone felt like they'd had enough of new material, they could reprice something, while still making it relevant to that week's title.

I like the overture and finale ideas too. Let's see how it starts sounding over time and maybe we'll get some good ideas of how it would work best. Great ideas.

Just so's y'all know, I'm going to be collating all the pieces together into a single mp3 which I hope to update weekly. I will post a link to that collective when I get it going.

I dunno if this goes against the ethos of your concept, Jim, but I think it would really help having that mp3 of 'the story so far' for everyone to hear as the weeks progress. This would help establish some thematic continuity and make the finished product sound less (potentially) like an musical version of Chinese Whispers ... I mean if you're doing it anyway .... just an idea?

Actually, we have a huge supply right now, and when I asked for better pricing, he went out and bought a supply before I needed to order.. so he keeps trying to sell me this product I don't require right now!!

I'm such, sometimes, a Net Virgin...... my cherry she *sniff* broke now though...... well almost...... the hymen she's a cracking......

Here is our opus so far. I will add to it as entries come in weekly. Warning: In order to maintain consistency from piece to piece, when I add your contribution to the work, I may mess with the volume and the compression a bit. So, here it is:

Cool Jim. I stll think that you would benefit greatly by just cutting off my compressed hit from your piece that I tagged in my piece and just tagging the music that comes in after the hit. I kinda hear a stutter in the beats like they've been flammed. Just a minor criticism. Sounds like you overlapped them instead of just using one or the other. I think it would be better to keep the drum hit from your number. Gentle criticism. Cool though.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I heard that double hit even on yours when it was soloed. Not wanting to actually cut some of yours, I overlapped, but now that you've said that, I think I will go back and cut one of them out. I also had to mess with the volume levels at that point, since that overlap was way louder than the rest of it. Duhh.... why didn't that occur to me? Anyway, good suggestion.
