Haha, Short Bus was initially one of the top choices on my list ... but yeah, it's taken by a fairly well-known movie.
Shortbus Chaos was another choice, but the word chaos just seems lame to me now.

There have been many bands (Say Anything comes to mind) that share their names with films. Some of them intentionally so. In fact, the film
Shortbus is spelled as a compound word, so you could even use Short Bus without technically being named after the film. Unfortunately, there
does exist a band by the name of Short Bus as well.
Reïst then wrote:Shortbus Chaos was another choice, but the word chaos just seems lame to me now.
Calamity Short Bus? Short Bus Havoc? Short Bus Trainwreck? Short Bus to Bedlam? Short Bus Hullabaloo? Short Bus Snafu?

You think bands are hard. You should try naming a race horse.

What about "Harold the Magnificent"? Yeah, okay, that would suck as a horse's, err... name.
Darn you, Spud!

HaHa! Wow, who would have thunk? I got a chuckle from the name "Runny Babbit" on that list.
"Run Oliver Biscuit" could be a good band name, also from that list.
That might be the hot ticket Andrew. Name your band after a race horse!

Haha, Shortbus to Bedlam (from Generic) and Sucks to be Me (from BLT) are both pretty solid. I should check out that site for some more classy ones.

Yes - that is pretty good.
And if you could re-enact the "yoga" bit from the opening scenes of Shortbus on stage at the beginning of every show - Wow! - that would get the punters in!

Can you believe "the short bus" is taken? Crap! How about The Homeless House Band? Or.. heh heh, Reist Rocket.
Cowtown Sound. If all else fails, cheap out and go with Pearl Jam II. Or, if you're stuck on the mode of transportaion thing, Canola MagLev. Don't ask. I don't know. These posts seem to get more retarded the longer I'm sober.
But Reist Rocket is good.

Searchability and domain name aren't correlated as closely as they used to be. I mean, yeah, my great-aunt still plugs in whatever-she's-looking-for.com before going to Yahoo, but if these prospective fans are looking for an indie band, you really think registering .net instead of .com will be a liability?
...Just sayin'.
Maybe not, but definitely still correlated and for the record I'm definitely NOT talking about liability. I'm only talking about marketing. You get a .net when there is already a .com, you might as well forward it to the .com. (Sure I exaggerate but my point is still valid) (Also, I'm not claiming to be end-all be-all on the subject but I read a couple of books and took a class on the subject for a small company I worked for, for a very brief period of time.)
Songfight is great example actually. I'm glad you pointed it out. I can't tell you how many times people have told me that the site was down or asked me what was wrong after I directed them to it because they still went to .com. One of the GOOD things about songfight.org is that the fightmasters are also affiliated with the .net. So that's at least two versions of the domain name to stumble upon and end up in the right place. Songfight was also established before .com 'went away' leaving little choice in the matter since the site itself was continuing. It wasn't a BRAND NEW songfight completely unaffiliated with the old format. Also, there were attempts to obtain .com as well.

Flopsy Deer River Place? That's terrible.
Maybe if I grew up on a street with a short name, it would be better.

Yeah, mine would be Ruby Gen. Haig. Or, if you wanted to get really technical and use the house I moved out of when I was 2, then it'd be Ruby 14th. Bad for a porn star name, only marginally better for a band.
Never really understood that exercise.
