That would be kind of great if it were actually possible, then I could make a bunch of ambient gothic dream pop.

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
So this week when I tried to envision the title, I imagined a man standing at the base of a tree, pointing at the ground yelling "come down where you oughta be!" up at a monkey that happened to be wearing gold lamé pants. I realized this was a disco monkey, and so I started writing, you know, a new wave kinda thing about a dancing monkey.
But the music wound up being a little less cheesy than I anticipated, so I think I'm going to go to mind control as a point of lyrical focus instead of the dancing monkey. But I'd love it if someone sang about a disco monkey that makes the ladies swoon with his mad fly moves. Hell, you're guaranteed at least one vote! Here's my campy lyrics as an intellectual launching point, though clearly you will do much better.
disco monkey come on out of that tree
disco monkey come down where you oughta be
disco monkey in your funny disco pants
disco monkey gonna do a disco dance
for me
disco monkey come on out of that tree
disco monkey come down where you oughta be
disco monkey wears a pair of ray ban shades
disco monkey sports a pair of roller blades
for you
you can't touch this monkey
ladies walk by and check his strut
gonna come on down to show you up
on the dancefloor
said look at him go, that disco monkey
plebes say disco's bourgeoisie
but they shall ne'er to dissuade me
monkey's hardcore
said look at him go, that disco monkey
dance!!!

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
Uch, I really need to stop staying up until 3 am. My brain gets the best of me.
"Send in your songfight entry!"
"I don't know, brain, it's pretty rough..."
"Rough is cool these days."
"Are you sure? They didn't really like my last so-"
"Shut up and email it."
"yes sir"

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
I have absolutely nothing at this point, so if I can get my monkey ballistics together, I'm going to take a crack at some funkay disco with Reve's lyrics. Just for shits & giggles. There's a really good chance that the "I'm in" post will have to be in the fdrink thread.

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
Oh, if there's more than one song with a disco monkey in it I might pass out from sheer glee.
Remember how we used to occasionally have the "optional challenge" in fights? Think of the disco monkey theme as an unofficial optional challenge!

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
Well, the song is complete, and I'm really happy with it. However, we're still displaced due to the storms, so I'm not sure I'll manage to get a solid MP3 recorded by Monday, but I'll share anyway

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is
Sounds good Cliff. You could have just sent that MP3 in. it's as good if not better than some of the lo-fi entries that folks send in. I look forward to your future entries.
I know you're new, so I'll just mention that we have a lyrics section for each title. Here >> http://songfight.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=5

OK, after wrestling with the free version of Acid for a while, I was able to extract an MP3 from the video, so I'm in.Clif wrote:Ah, thanks - I had forgotten about that. And I'll see if I can pull the MP3 from the video.

I'm in.
I finished the song like a week ago but just now went ahead and submitted it. Solo effort, but it should be at least 75% as good as the Country Martyrs song was.

Did you make any adjustments to the song over the weeks time that you had it done? Just curious.Rone Rivendale wrote:I'm in.

I've got some mixing to do tonight, but mine will probably be in. I'm not entirely pleased though. Hopefully the mixing will save that.

It's submitted. Maybe a bit heavy on bass and drums, but that was kind of the point for this one.
