true. although the funny thing is, in a way it turned out exactly how you might've expected for a project which was basically half phish/half primus.john m wrote:On paper, Oysterhead should have been the single greatest band in history.
no way. i've seen buckethead play a number of times and while there is no doubt as to his skill, he's way more of a vai/satriani guy than trey is. trey is an equally good guitar player, and much better versed in the freeform, jazz style that copeland/claypool do so well. i know buckethead and claypool have hooked up a number of times though, and i saw buckethead rip through a blistering set at the haight street fair one year so i know how good he is. it's just that trey fits the style better. and i thought oysterhead live was very entertaining, and not at all like typical phish or primus but more like the early police actually.tviyh wrote:true. although the funny thing is, in a way it turned out exactly how you might've expected for a project which was basically half phish/half primus.john m wrote:On paper, Oysterhead should have been the single greatest band in history.
they would have been way awesomer if they had included buckethead as lead guitarist. [/way obscure oysterhead interview inside joke]

Oh yeah.. I have very little faith that could ever happen.
