That's great news, Jim. I posted elsewhere, but will put here as well.

Ourmedia.org, a free global repository for grassroots media, allows anyone to upload, store and share digital works. The site will accept home movies, music videos, original music, audio interviews, photos, art, documentaries, grassroots political ads, animations, books, student films, software — any work in digital form.

Not sure if this is awesome, yet. But today Google opened Google Video, who will host your digital video. Seems they are up against OurMedia, which is pretty awesome

It looks kinda awesome. I mean, one of the hurdles to really being successful in media on the web is bandwidth. If Google is willing to take on the bandwidth for people, that's pretty cool. I'm sure their content appraisal is just to make sure there's no "faces of death" or porn getting uploaded. Wonder where the boundaries are.

click on the zoom tabs near the top. It's not obvious, but you can drag the images around.
Part of me is like "LOL so lame" and then this part I repress is like "DUDE A JEM'HADAR BATTLECRUISER IS SO NOT BIGGER THAN A BLUE WHALE"

I'd call it the official best site ever of the day. And very much like Get Your War On in style and vibe, if not form.

To someone like me, who hates Superman with a passion, superdickery is a beautiful place.

I just didn't get some of it. I got the impression some of the stuff under "Superman Being a Dick" was photoshopped to have different text, but then that would make the whole site somewhat pointless.

i just love this guy's work:

http://www.explodingdog.com

maybe we should send him the songfight titles; he might come up with some interesting stuff for cover art.

it's not photoshopped. you can go to http://www.comics.org/ and look up the issues. it is hard to believe that some of it isn't fake, though.

MetaBrainz launched to expand scope of music metadata captured at MusicBrainzand public participation to do it. This is way cool, hopefully the spark that's needed to create an awesome source of deatiled metadata.

Yup. The only one that I would dispute is in the 'panels' section - the one where Batman is supposedly 'pulling off some bloke's head'. Happen to know the strip, and it's Batman jumping out of one his cunning bat-latex disguise. Other than that, haven't come across any that I know that are misrepresented, so far ...

OddioOverplay is a way cool net label catalog site. Kayte is a great curator and the level of professional production and variety of style there is truly wonderful (including Add). May not be rawk enough for some, but hey she's featuring Songfight! on the home page (or it's a random sellection). I've been chatting SF up with her for a long time and she features a bunch of my stuff. Fortunately she's now turning to the better talent in the archives.

It's nice to see someone doing that on the web. Songfighters need to be heard, cuz a lot of it is better than most commercial crap out there.

I personally think there is only one music source, but then again I am kind of a nerd
