@Den

Couldn't stand the weather was the first thing I thought of when I saw this challenge.

This one had me stumped for a while, but I finally have an idea. Now I just need to make it good somehow...

Dude! When I saw TV on the Radio a few months ago, the covered Waiting Room, one of my favorite concert experiences ever!

Yes! That is an AWESOME stop/start!

Why is no one speaking of : Braid, Joan of Arc, Heavy Vegetable, Don Caballero, At the Drive In, etc ?

not to mention : Rush, Yes, Zappa, King Crimson

This is a fun challenge!

Dear competition,

Don't confuse the "use of a rest" challenge from Nur Ein 5 "Headphones" with "Starts and Stops." You can have starts and stops without rests. My favorite is the "Close to the Edge" stop with the "Ahhhh!" and the subsequent start.

Get your Math Rock On!

Nur Ein!!

I'm glad somebody mentioned Don Caballero, "For Respect" is an incredible album. I immediately thought of "Lady Sniff" by The Butthole Surfers, and drew inspiration as well

I have no idea what you're talking about. I usually don't, though.

My strategy is just to make a song with as many forms of starting and stopping as possible to cover every possible interpretation of the challenge.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Wasn't it "judicious use of silence" for that challenge?

Right! Thanks Lunkhead, I suppose I should have looked that up before I spoke.

Don't confuse : "Judicious use of silence" with " use of a rest" nor with " starts and stops".

Silence might be in between a stop and a start, but this challenge is not about the middle part, it's about the stopping and starting.

Also keep in mind I'm not a judge. Don't trust me, don't trust Frankie, you might trust Ross because of the immunity, but he's probably playing the long game, so don't trust him either.

hey all,

due to sudden (and time sensitive) commitments i need to unfortunately withdraw from nur ein. i was planning to finish this week's song today, but ended up having to leave my practice space early. i'm gonna be out of commission for about two weeks, so i apologize wholeheartedly to everyone for not being able to see this through.

good luck to everyone and i can't wait to see who comes out on top!

In a GCC first, I have scrapped my original idea, which is not very good, and replaced it with an idea I had earlier, which is however less original, and also not very good. Still struggling with shoehorning the challenge in. Gyaaaarrr! This may be my downfall.
adamadamant wrote:I think I have a song now. Just have to record it. Its a 13minute dis rap with full frontal nudity and nazi salutes.
Hey, save that for the next round. I hear the challenge is going to be "Song must include full frontal nudity."
