Hey guys, sorry I've been remiss in the updates. The surgery took place last week, and was a success according to my doctor. My left hand stayed numb for far longer than the surgeon said it would, but I've regained feeling almost completely, except in the finger with the injured nerve, which will take another six months or so to rebuild.
I was prescribed a pill called Norco, which I didn't need until today, and didn't really enjoy taking. It killed the pain, but it also made me dizzy and gave me the runs... I'm going to avoid taking that again if I can avoid it. It's just hydrocodone and Tylenol, so I guess I'll just take Tylenol if the pain flares up again.
I've attached a photo of my hand, for those of you who are into such things. These stitches will be in for about two weeks. I might be playing the piano in a limited capacity again soon. Stringed instruments are out of the question for at least a few more months.

Ray, you're not the first person to make that joke. I guess it would make sense to me if I'd read any of the Harry Potter books.
My girlfriend said it looked like a bird.

It looks like 3 weeks in Hawaii for your doctor.
Glad it went well, Jon.

How long must we endure these evil green monsters maiming our children?
It is time for a War on Avacados.

I just read this whole thread. Sorry you have had to go through that. Do you know about
this?
Sounds like it's getting better, but all hope was not lost.

True, but the point is well-taken.
I tried composing some right-hand-only stuff. I didn't think it was good enough to share.

Now, if you did right-hand-only pieces for guitar or mandolin, that'd be more impressive.

Guitar and mandolin are going to be the last instruments I'll be able to play again. I'd imagine even bass and banjo will be feasible before guitar and mandolin.
About six months, says the doctor. I'll keep you all posted.
