Kraftwerk - 'Man Machine'
MIA - 'Arular'
The Rakes - 'Retreat' and its great b-side 'Dark Clouds' (although it makes the cardinal Songfight sin of mixing the vocals too quiet

Is anyone going to admit to listening to their own music?

Certainly not.
It's like masturbating... Everybody does it, but nobody talks about it. Unless they do.

The Black Mages - THE BLACK MAGES II The Skies Above
Second album of Nobuo Uematsu's band that takes Final Fantasy music and rocks it out all metal-like. Fucking awesome.

This Boards of Canada remix of Beck's "Broken Drum" is amazing, as is Boards of Canada's Geogaddi, which I've been listening to pretty much nonstop lately. Pretty much just Boards of Canada in general is amazing.

oh man...I so agree with that. Geogaddi is good, but Music Has the Right to Children is better. At least I think so...those guys are fantastic. And SUPER FREAKING OVERDUE FOR A NEW ALBUM!!!
(in case they mght be reading....)

I like the Boards of Canada remix more than the original. It's so damn good. I prefer
Music Has the Right to Children also. It contains more actual songs than
Geogaddi does. Their
Twoism EP is really good, too. Boards of Canada are totally great.

I'm more into Music Has the Right to Children too, but lately I've been listening way more to Geogaddi. I think it might be a better album than Music, actually, in terms of cohesion and whatnot, but Music has way more standout tracks, like "Aquarius."

Myself. Oh no, hang on, that's been done already ... flips through cds,
Kraftwerk, The Rakes, Jorge Drexler and, most recently, OMD greatest hits! *ahem* I found it at the bottom of an old pile and gave it a spin for old times' sake, honestly!
I quite liked it, actually.

today's run into work featured I Mother Earth's Scenery and Fish. One of my favourite Canadian albums of all time. Too bad they suck ass now.

John Schaefer's show on WNYC "New Sounds" often dips into Readiohead, and yesterday he featured Idioteque, built on a sample of electronic music by composer Paul Lansky from the mid 70s. I never buy their albums because as a whole they don't interest me that much but in small doses they shine.
