Really charming cover. Way to go. I think I might have been the one that introduced Bjam to the song in the first place; it was on Rilo Kiley's first release, back before they were hugely famous, and it's one of my favorite tracks of theirs.

You've introduced me to a lot of music, but not Rilo Kiley. :) But, still, The Frug is damn cool, and I love this cover.

I also love the cover of "She's a Lady" incase I didn't say so. Thank you! :D

Hey someone really needs to cover a tune for Feldspar. No one left behind!!!

Also, have any of you heard of the podcast Coverville? It's one of the best known podcasts and I spoke to the guy who runs it (Brian Ibbott) and told him about the GOM. So he may play some GOM stuff on his show. (He's played ADD and Roymond in the past) Too bad a lot of the 2004 and 2005 links are dead. I hope that doesn't deter him from checking stuff out. I think I may have to just send him some sort of best-of-compilation.

I am working on a song from Feldspar's list. I hope to have it up by the end of the week.

Well, I finally got my computer fixed and my harddrive was completely knackered - so I lost everything that was on it - including the GoM I had been working on for Rachel Layne.

..but I have found in my car a CD where I burnt what I had done to see what it sounded like.

So, here is what I had done. I had intended to redo the lead vocal, do some cutting and pasting to make it fit together better and do a final mix - but this will give Rachel an idea what I had in mind.

Oh...and there are a lot of strange noises on this - which is just me and my daughter making funny noises in the microphone  . I used a sample of my daughter in the opening - and I forgot to erase the track where I was trying to encourage her to make sounds for me - just pretend it's another Phunt collaboration...

Yeah, Brian's great. He loves hearing the odd stuff, too. And a swell guy! Good move, Niveous.

Are we at 100% with this, or is Blue still MIA?

Just chiming in to say that I still have every intention of completing this song for Feldspar. It's coming along, albeit slowly. But it is coming.

Feldspar and Calfborg still haven't gotten gifts. :(

Inspired by the kindness of Jim Tyrell in making us a most kick ass cover, we spent today whippin' up our rendition of this here song Calfborg asked for. The original is a little noisy and strange, so we were immediately drawn to it. I hope it's an adequate consolation prize for getting left out, Happy GoM Calfborg!!!

Thank you very much for that cover! I wouldn't have expected anyone to choose it and you did. Great job. That at least makes one cover in two years.

Holy Crap, You mean we were covering a Jute Gyte project and we didn't even know it? Well, glad we got the hat and not the finger. Checked out you guys website, if you ever get mp3's back up I'd like to hear them.

I think it's kinda salty that Calfborg only got one song from two GoM's, especially considering he had his hand in 5 songs this year, hold on, let me clear my throat *UhhHXaroarrg..coff coff..*

Anyways, he desreves more than just an afternoon venture by us is all I'm sayin'

The Gift of Music is not dead. It is merely on life support. Here's a piece of belated holiday Cake:

Albatross covers Cake's "Ain't No Good" (for the very patient Feldspar)

Enjoy!

Yeah. I'm the pianist and the non-spoken word vocalist on "Alien Heart". We're working on a new website right now, so when that's up it'll have some songs on it. We'll also be posting most of the songs from our upcoming album on somesongs when we release it. If you want, I can PM you or something when this starts happening. Again, great job with the cover. And I agree that Calfborg needs some hxaro love.

One million thanks to you, sir! A fantastic cover it is. I really really especially dig the guitar. So thank you.

So that's two Cake covers I've received in three years. I should start diversifying my musical tastes in the future.
