The high note is hilarious, but you totally pull it off. Take on me comes up in the rotation on our family get togethers, so now I know how I look hitting the high note.

Hey everyone! I haven't been on songfight in ages, but I've still been recording loads.

Can someone tell me what they think of my new songs: www.myspace.com/realityrespond

Thank you!

Yay Flowers: Great little groove. Like it. Kind of wanted more lyrics though.

I’m Ready to Die: Hilarious lyrics. Great vocals. Really catchy and cute.

Our Belt Buckles: Wow, another great little ditty.

Hitching Post Bound: Child cowboys! How darling! Nice pickin’.

Jordan Seavers is Dead: That’s what I heard at least.

Estivate: Not bad, not as hot as the other tracks so far.

Mediate: This reminds me of an ironic cruise I went on. Pretty hard to resist the 8-bit samba.

Hey, when did MySpace get a 21stcentury music player? What an improvement.

It seems your writing and producing skills have come a long way, young Mr. Verrett. Great work.

I wish I could claim credit for the lyrics, but this is a Unicorns song : [

Still, it was fun to record.

Thanks for the feedback, Melvin!

A song for Raised By Wolves, written in honor of his 36th birthday. Not that it's got anything to do with him, other than that the lyrics are basically engineered to appeal to him in every way possible.

I don't think I can link directly to the song on the playlist but it's the 1st one and it plays automatcially when you go there. It's called Happy Place. I did it real quick in about an hour tonight cuz I missed the deadline for HaMN (didn't even start) and I wanted to perform something since Thursday is my usual day to do songs (only day I'm alone in the house).

People were complaining I was using too many single strings in my guitar playing and wanted more chords. So here you go. lol

You, sir, are a glutton.

Clearly, this is recorded in tracks. I would assume drum, then guitar, then vocals. I mean, I can't tell from listening, but that would at least be logical. It sounds, however, that you recorded the three tracks independently (i.e., without hearing what you had done already at the same time), and then mixed together at the end. I doubt if this is the case, but that's what it sounds like. There is no correlation between the three different beats, speeds, or rhythms of the three tracks.. Here is my suggestion, then: turn the fucking drum machine up. WAY UP. Not during recording, and not in the final mix, perhaps, but while you are recording the other tracks, and put on some headphones. Obviously, you can't hear it at the volume you are using. It should be so loud that you absolutely can't ignore it. I don't even care if you can't even hear your guitar while you are recording it, or your vocals while you are singing. Do not ignore the drum machine. You might start by recording to a simpler loop, which has a very obvious feeling of the beat, and then swapping it out for something more complex at the end. It is possible that you ARE hearing the drums, but that they are confusing you. I dunno.

Also, get that ridiculous grin off of your face. It's disturbing. Close your mouth. Stare at the camera, as if you suspected it of some sort of mischief. Do this for me. Please.

lol, I don't close my mouth often. I'm kind of a mouth breather (shut up).

As far as the crit goes, I'd have to agree that it's a little mis-jointed(is that a word?). And yeah, I do my songs drums, then guitar, then vocals. I'll try what you said about the volume of the drums when I'm guitaring (and guitar/drums when i'm vocalizing).

And yup, I'm a glutton. So I want a 2nd opinion. Prefably about the whole chords vs single plucking thing that made me do this song in the first place.

Yeah, pretty much what Spud said. "Tighter timing," I think he's calling for.

Spud pretty much hit all the issues. I'd also like to add that the vocal melody and guitar would sound much more gelled if they were in the same key as the melody changes. I'm not saying that's the proper way to do it, because who am I to tell you how "your" music should sound. I'm just saying it would sound more like your guitar and vocals are playing the same song.

I had a riff going through my head and made a song. What do you people think of it?

Cool riff. Pretty rockin'. Has a White Zombie feel to it.

So my band has a new song and I'd love some commentary on it.

This was my first time recording drums, so that's one particular area I'd like some critique on.

There are some super sloppy sections in this that make me cringe every time they come up, but apart from that is it an okay song?

Are you talking about the first song, bite down? I love stuff like that. It's really good in my opinion. To me, it's like progressive jazz/rock/punk. It's a wonderful place to be. It's funky and rocking. I live for stuff like this. You really should enter a fight here, I think many would appreciate your originality. I know I dig it!

By the way, you have no idea how your light blue tile and dolphin MS site makes me feel. Great choice. I think and feel just like your site. Naturally, I added you.

Yeah I got really into the mathy progressive stuff towards the end of last year (as though it were that long ago).

I looove it and it's so fun to play.

Thanks a ton for your comments! I'm quite fond of the blue tile too. I added ya right away.

I think doing a fight might be fun, I check the titles every once in a while. If I feel really attached to one hopefully we can get something done and put it up.

this might sound weird, but that dolphin image completly goes with the first track bite down. very indie, and they compliment eachother very well. thats all.
oh yeah, good song.

I love the dolphin picture. It reminds me of all of the dolphin/unicorn/bengal tiger art you see at county fairs and festivals like that.

Yeah I think I get what you mean. The guitar tone sort of a reminds me of a dolphin.

hey you guys-

Abominominous - Cain, Be Cool

lyrics:

Risin', takin' stock of the pyre
Deliberate, settin' ablaze all the neverwould
Insistent, fisticuffs and poor vision
Prob'ly beggin' Cain to be cool

Perimeter breached, my eminence
word on the street so deafening
chorus of negative angels
written in fire, beggin' Cain to be cool

Martyr, you're meetin' the qualifications
Rotten, the beasts don't know forgiveness
Irrelevant, it's playin' out on its own now
I saw you, casual, finger the ripcord

This was an album I finished in December. It's not good at all. But, hey, look! Free music!
