you're welcome. it's all me. the LOSS just refers to our little rag-tag group trying to make sure everyone gets a gift here under the cloak of private messaging...you know who you are.

Glenn and Rachael - There is absolutely no need to apologize unless it's for the cliche of "good things come to those who wait". I am playing the song over and over, and totally loving it! Rachael, your voice sounds great all honest and true and fits in perfectly with the groovalicious instrumental and vocal tracks. I am genuinely delighted, and seriously rank this as one of my favorite gifts of anything, ever. Nice Hendrix nod, too, that I missed on first pass. Fantastic, and thank you both, very, very, much.
While I'm gushing, I might add that I enjoyed all of the songs that were offered up this year so far, and appreciate the talent that I am allowed to rub shoulders with. (Don't worry, I'm not contagious) Good work, everybody!

Y'all are quite welcome to leave me out of your efforts, and concentrate more on people who are nicer but less moustachially gifted. I still have some small amount of faith in whoever, and if all else fails I wouldn't be too upset to submit the same list next year (unless it gets assigned to the same person, in which case I will have sharp words for Mr. Niveous).

Wow, awesome! This is pretty different, moody and more wistful. I'm imagining some synths in here, a little more orchestral mix, but it's great as is also
Thanks, JimT! Definitely worth waiting for!

Y'know, I'm left feeling like there's some room in there for exactly that sort of thing. I may continue to tinker with this. Feel free to do the same, by the way!
EDIT: Also worth noting... I'm not your original GoM gifterperson. Hopefully he/she still comes through with a tune for ya!

Yes, I was thinking of suggesting such a thing! Are the chords available somewhere?

And also, I know, sorry, I should have said that. I quite liked your GD cover also!

If anyone wants their "stocking stuffer songs for the stiffed" added to the GOM page, please send them to Soul Tree the same as you sent your regular submission
(see the submission instructions in the first post of this thread)

Just thought I'd let this be mentioned in public so to speak, I was going to do at least another of my Giftee's tracks, but as my giftee is a stiffer I think it prudent to call a halt to any project appertaining to said stiffer and to redirect my albeit poor, yet honourable efforts towards those stiffed!

Ok, so who wins? I hope it's me because I need the money. For gin and cigarettes.

I finally listened to all the GoM songs. Here are my favorites (the best 5 have "great" at the end):
albatross - Part of Your Body is Made Out of Rock (Piebald cover).mp3
Anti-M - Sugar-we-goin-down (Fall Out Boy cover).mp3
Billy's Little Trip - Heaven (Pere Ubu cover).mp3
Enter it in the art show - Little Sadie (Bob Dylan cover; great).mp3
flvxxvm florvm - wild wild life (Talking Heads cover).mp3
Glenn Case - take on me (A-Ha cover; great).mp3
pacodelstinko_Underwater Moonlight (The Soft Boys cover).mp3
rossdurand_Political Science (Randy Newman cover; great).mp3
roymond - Fight For Your Right (Beastie Boys cover; great).mp3
The White Hat - stay (Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs cover; great).mp3

I don't think I'm going to vote either as I still haven't even had a chance to listen to all the songs yet, and probably won't have time to do so this weekend, either. I liked the that I picked at random to listen to, though. Good job everyone, and good luck to all the contestants.

So, this isn't directly related or anything. But I'd been feeling a bit bummed to never get a reaction from Spinlock regarding the cover I did for him in this gift thing (I even PM-ed him at one point).
So today I see that his last post was in early December, and got a touch of concerned. Any one in touch with him?
I realize there are myriad reasons for him to drop off the songfight map, but I was recalling a post I think Chris (BLT) made once about, like, if he died and stopped posting would anyone notice, or just think he'd gotten bored of the site. How would any of us fellow songfighters know his real fate.
Ok, that's all.

Great, thanks Ross. Now I'll be thinking and worrying about this for the next few weeks. I hope he's ok, he's a good dude.
As for your song. I can't speak for him, but I can't stop playing it. I'm just happy that I don't have to pay per play, or I'd be bankrupt. Great interpretation, if I haven't already said so.

I never heard anything from Project-D either (and he is around), so I have to assume he didn't care for it. Otherwise, he be all like "cool, love it! thanks!"

I have probably not thanked Roymond for his cover (You've got to Fight...), because I am refraining from listening to it again until I have finished mine. I did listen to it once when it first came out, and it was amazing. I am planning on putting on frequent rotation ONCE MINE IS DONE. But not before. Self-imposed punishment.

Whaaa? That's completely insane. What happen?
In any case, if my name up there ISN'T an error...I certainly couldn't accept any cash for my efforts -- perhaps make a donation to the ACLU on my behalf.
But nice work everybody! I do love the GOM. Personally, I voted for BLT and Flvvxm Florvm (I hope I spelled that correctly) but it was awfully tough to pick. There's a ton of awesome stuff up there!
