Fripp & Eno - Swastica Girls, from No Pussyfooting. Been a while and was so refreshing walking home from a crazy day at work.

I've bought three copies of that CD so far. One for myself, one each for my brother and sister.

The "Howdy. Hey." at the beginning of Comfortably Numb still makes me snicker.

Scott loves Rebuild the Wall. If you like bluegrass, you might want to also check out the "Pickin' on" series of bluegrass tribute albums. We have "Pickin' on Zeppelin: A Tribute" and it's really good (warning: it's 100% bluegrass instrumentals with no vocalist).

Dan Kelly & the Alpha Males

Nephew of the legendary Paul Kelly (of Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls), wonderful pop tinged rock and roll and one of the greatest band names I've ever heard.

I never liked Ned's stuff. Too much reverb on the vocals. He should have taken the bucket off his head.

Ani Difranco - Knuckledown

i know, i know, this came out early last spring, but i'm gonna see her this saturday (woo-hoo!).

i listen to as many Ani bootlegs as i can, so i was familiar with these songs well before they hit the album, but i have to say, i think that "Knuckledown" is Ani's best album since "Dilate": focused, clear production that serves the songs very well, a beautiful sonic palette, and melodies that really stick with you. i know the songs on this album more by their melodies than their titles.

I'm listening to Antigone Rising...which is very....mediocre. Almost disappointing, but the second song is pretty damn fine.

yay for buffalo natives!

anyway, my car stereo cd player is acting up something fierce so i'm going back to my old cassette tapes. recently pulled out the pixies - trompe le monde, which is fantastic stuff, like 60's-surf-punk or something. the lyrics inspire me to write something. i feel like i should check out more of their stuff. i got this tape for a dollar or something :)

and also anne clark, who did some really cool spoken-word/electronic music stuff, if a bit angsty. evidently "hope road" was a radio hit, but i had no idea!

I've listened twice. Brilliant production, but I'm not convinced they are better than sliced bread.

Funny..this has to be one of the more talked about album releases in a long while...

Production is grandiose, melodies are typically Chris Martin. The album has that magnetic thing that keeps you wanting to hear it, but honestly..it's cheap. I'm really disappointed with Coldplay's chicken-shit 3rd offering. I don't think they really stretched for this at all, but rather feel it's a bit of a calculated offering...designed to sell.

I hate that impression, and yet I still listen to it from time to time. Grrrr...
