Wow. This is really sweet. Haven't listened to any of his stuff in a long time...

Every time I re-discover the Smashing Pumpkins, I realize they're my favorite band of all time. They could do it all.

Finally got around to listening to some Radiohead. Unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble taking the first track of Kid A off "repeat" long enough to listen to more Radiohead.

No kidding (Kid A-ing). After OK Computer and Kid A, I figured they had nowhere else to go, but Hail to the Thief might be my favorite album of theirs now.

HttT was my favourite for about 6 months...but I listened to it non-stop and now I've not listened to it since. And no desire to either...weird.

Has anyone else checked out Brian Eno's latest (Another Green Earth)?

I've got real mixed emotions about it. I can't help but hear Ringo Star all over the place...and that ain't a good thing for an Eno album. Not sure what I expected, but I thought it would draw me in more on my first listen than it has. Perhaps it will with repeated listens..but I dunno....

ehhh... Another Green World is from 1975, the new one is called "Another Day On Earth."
Anyway, it's pretty good. Not as stellar as I hoped. I think it's the first song; it's fantastic, and a lot of the rest is still fairly ambient, which is ok but not as engaging as a lot of his old stuff. I wouldn't put the album as a whole in the same class as Taking Tiger Mountain, Before and After Science, or Another Green World. But it's still enjoyable.
Dunno about Ringo.

I just started listening to Mellon Collie again a couple days ago, and I get that same impression each time. I also got the urge to buy the rest of their albums... again. Somehow, they've escaped my collection and I don't know why I have three copies of the Mellon Collie booklet.

This is a FANTASTIC album!
I hadn't listened to any of Cohens music for a long while when I was turned on to this. It seems I was missing something wonderful.

listening to the melvins' version of 'going blind'. definitely one of the best covers of all time.

Gish is the best record. After that it went all down hill for me.

gish is fucking solid start to finish. I don't think i could say that about the rest of their catalog, although i love siamese dream to death.

those 2 CDs are arguably the greatest CDs to shred on a snowboard to.

Gish is great, and is a more cohesive album than Mellon Collie, but Mellon Collie has some of the most incredible songs - and b-sides! - ever ever ever.

I'm working on a social entrepreneurship-ish project with a group of talented folks, one of which started MODIBA Productions, who raised $120,000 for humanitarian aid in Darfur through sales of the ASAP: Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project compilation album, which is fabulous and gets much play in my headphones. It's awesomely groovy.

Gordon Lightfoot. Saw him play at Wolftrap last night. I didn't realize it, but he was in a coma for 6 weeks not that long ago after a blood vessel broke during a concert. Not quite as good as the last time we saw him, but still awesome.
...And he played the song that Michelle and I picked for our first dance at the wedding reception, "Beautiful" - which was on the day after our 4th month anniversary
