so far, the two most addictive songfight songs ... the ones that get me right excited aLWAYS are starfinger's more than soup (thanks to Jack who touts this tune constantly!! ...and no wonder why!) and Frontalot's romantic cheapskate which is deadly good.
Don't get me wrong, there's tons of real good and even great sf tunes...but these two STICK in my mind. I don't know why....

"This is not an accessible record, nor is it easy to warm up to, which means that many may dismiss it upon a single listen or two, never giving it the time it demands in order to be understood"

I'm interested to hear this, because just yesterday I was looking at my copy of the Up CD on my shelf, saying to myself, "Man, what a waste - I bet I listened to that maybe twice."
I'll put it on tonight and see if it sits any better. I remember being pretty disappointed at the time. But here's hoping!

download - i've gotten tired of this, too. if you haven't heard them already, the song "banquet" is a good one to check out.
it's an amazing song...
do you hang out at great scott, too?

Nouveau Vague - excellent if you are as old as I am and like listening to a lot of late 70s to mid 80s remakes in bossa nova, salsa styles with a sultry french female. Nothing like listening to DKs "Too Drunk to Fuck" sung by a beautiful french woman like she's asking you in her best come back to bed voice. New Order's "Love Will Tear Us Apart", or the awesome rendition of "Making Plans for Nigel". A must have.

Song Fight is slowly ruining me as far as listening to pop music. There's just no point—it's not as creative. ITunes is giving me a steady mix of Deshead (High Enough), Comfort (SNO), 40 Second Songs (Snowfort—my favourite SF ever), Black Bottle (Fat and Happy), Boltoph (Courage) and on and on and on. New songs added every week.
Punk rock is for children. Grab a six-pack at Half-a-Dozen Records.

I'd heard the DKs cover on the radio and thought it was great - I didn't know there was a whole album like that.tonetripper wrote:Nouveau Vague - excellent if you are as old as I am and like listening to a lot of late 70s to mid 80s remakes in bossa nova, salsa styles with a sultry french female. I just listened to some snippets on the Amazon website - I think I gotta go and find that record - yes, the Making Plans for Nigel sounds great!
(BTW: don't you mean Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"?)
