tonetripper wrote:Nouveau Vague - excellent if you are as old as I am and like listening to a lot of late 70s to mid 80s remakes in bossa nova, salsa styles with a sultry french female. Nothing like listening to DKs "Too Drunk to Fuck" sung by a beautiful french woman like she's asking you in her best come back to bed voice. New Order's "Love Will Tear Us Apart", or the awesome rendition of "Making Plans for Nigel". A must have.
Bought that record and been listening to all week while I was on holidays - great stuff. All of my terminally un-hip middle-aged friends liked it too.

Thanks for the tip TT!

hey, i'm glad you liked it! if you click the link in my signature, you can find it at that page.

i'm just finishing a move from wyoming to virginia. at the same time, my website is undergoing an overhaul, so i had to take all my music down that was linked to my old site.

as far as currently digging.... anything on the Anticon label has been holding my interest lately.

you sure that's not "Nouvelle Vague"?

That's what my copy says. I listened to Marc Collin's other project, Ollano. It has some nice tracks on it of the same style, but I think the Nouvelle Vague album is much better overall.

thanks I've been a fan but hadn't really given the last couple discs much attention. 'til now
I'd agree with your "best album since 'dilate'," although, I do think "revelling:reckoning" is way underrated.

I've been digging a disc I owned for about five years before I listened to it all the way through: "This Euphoria" from David Garza. I even had one of these songs (Be My Slave) on a soundtrack without realizing.
If you think you'd like the sound of something somewhere between Jason Falkner and Jeff Buckley.

Four Songs - His Name Is Dan

Just listen to View From the Floor and try to deny that Dan is the Iron and Wine of SongFight.

Yeah, I know, wrong thread.

I've really been digging Disturbed's newest album 10,000 Fists.

I especially like the song Just Stop.

I spent the afternoon raking leaves while rocking to Static-X's latest album, Start A War. Awesome. Didn't like it off the bat, but by the end of the first listen through, I was diggin' it. Now I love it.

I'm now relaxing to the soothing tones of The American Analog Set - Set Free. Way, way chill.

And if you haven't checked it, I highly recommend David Gray's new album, Life in Slow Motion. Brilliant. His lyrics and delivery of them astound me still, after many dozens of listens.

I'm going through another Ramen phase.

Current heavy listens include:

Panic! At the Disco, providing catchy rock songs meshed with electronic instrumentation and a glittery production shimmer.

The Academy Is..., reminding me that some great memorable tunes can take over 5 listens to truly appreciate.

Another worthy mention of the Ramen kind:

As far as teen punk pop goes, Paramore's lead singer pulls off the vocal skills and sincerity that Avril aims for, without all that emptiness. Lyrically, however, they're on an even playing field :-). And apparently no A-team of backup artists either. But damn, what a voice.

Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Ambient, creepy, relaxing, surreal, engaging. Piano and static, mostly. Oh so good.

Deshead's Shut Up and Sit Down just turned up on my iTunes, and boy, this is good. I don't think I listened to it when I downloaded it, but I'm glad I just did. The last chorus is just crazy.
