We've got a cello at home, but my cello skills are way rusty, so just used stock.
Vocal delivery - yeah It's [funny/ sad] how something can sound ok to you at the time, and you come back later and just cringe. I guess that's why people suggest you wait a day after you mix, then come back to it with fresh ears.
Yeah, although if I always try to fix what's broken from the previous day, I end up spending like three months on a single song. Sometimes it's best to just let it be.
Thanks, Bill! I totally understand FAWM burn-out. Enjoyed your "Eat Goats!" with your kids, and the anti-valentine with j$.
You got a much creepier thing going on in the chorus with the dropped vocals, the organ, the grindy sound, and the distorted barking. Your instrumental break sounds like it could easily come from a zombie movie. So in that, I think your song captures the emotion of the lyrics better than mine does.
Thanks for taking the time to record and post this!

Thanks!
The solo instrument is this wild thing. I'm always excited to have a use for it in a song!

And now that we are in, I can take this opportunity to thank our coverer, Schlimminy Cricket. Well done man, well done. It's always fun to hear someone else's take.
BTW, as if you can't tell, we had a little help from fluffy on this one (an Octothorpe band member for many years, so it's only fair!). The voice on the chorus is distinctive, and the mix is all fluffy. Thanks.
Dear Paco,
So sorry for the delay. It was harder than expected to coordinate our schedules. I hope it was worth the wait.

Also, these are all great covers. There's not one here I couldn't listen to, again and again. Personal vanity aside, I *think* if there were a vote, I would go Sockpuppet first, Heuristics Inc second and Tiny Robots third (it's a wonderfulNouvelle Vague-esque cover of the original but I'm not sure about the accent choice).
Thanks for organising/sticking with this, Fluffy. Top job.
Also, thank you again, Octothorpe - It's nice not to be that difficult-or-just-plain-crap-artist-to-interpret-who-got-stiffed-again guy for once - and my, the end result's top stuff. I gift you this song if you ever want to include it in your output. Did it far better/more efficiently than I ever could...
Wow, that Tiny Robots track is amazing, hits me right in that place in my heart where I keep my love of Stereolab. I disagree with j$ about the accent (I think it's perfect) but agree with him about how great a job Fluffy did organizing. Thanks! I hope to write proper reviews at some point.
Dear Ken and fellow Robots: Amazing job. Absolutely fantastic. The vocals are a delight, the guitars so much better than the original and tasty, great rhythm tracks. I love the Brazilian vibe to it, or whatever you call that. Outstanding.
Ya know, I thought this song was decent, for me, but you took it and showed me how it could, and should, be done. Thank you.
