my original theory was that the vishnu cycle title finally sent you over the edge. but that theory is ruined by the fact that you entered a song the next week. so the "bad title" explanation isn't holding water.

and no i didn't think you're mix was "abysmal" by any stretch. i thought it was fine. and i'm a production snob.

i'm just trying to have fun with you. it just seems like some people are taking some things a little too personally. not saying you mind you....wouldn't want to get you upset...... :)

Hey all,

For anyone who cares about what I have been up to? Read on if you like.

Keeping busy with too many projects as usual. Figured it was time for an update. Here are 7 things that I have been up to in no particular order.

1. I will be writing CD reviews from time to time for <a href="http://www.treblezine.com"target="blank">Treble</a>. Treble is an indie music magazine based out of San Diego, and I couldn't be happier to be considered part of their team. The other reviews on the website are written really well, and I have to admit that it's a little intimidating. I'm not a journalist by nature, and it calls for me to be a little more articulate than usual, and to just have a higher standard of writing than in my blog, for instance. They have a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/treblezine"targe ... ">here.</a>

2. I am knee deep in recording the debut CD for the <a href="http://www.myspace.com/halfracks"target="blank">Half Racks</a>. We are hoping to have all of our parts recorded and approved by all band members by late February. From there, <a href="http://puce.songhole.org"target="blank">Puce</a> will be mixing and mastering his derriere' off. At the very least, the first batch of discs will be created through the ProPak offer at <a href="http://www.diskfaktory.com/enter/009/de ... Musician's Friend</a>, and the finished CD will sell for $7 a piece, and will have 12 songs. EVERY Half Racks CD will have 12 songs, as there is 12 in a half rack. We are pleased to say that any eventual profit will be shared between the Half Racks, and Puce. Some of the mp3s will be available for free download. The Half Racks have a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/halfracks"target ... ">here.</a>

3. I am hoping to have a Def Author album available for free mp3 download in the near future. When it is done, it will be called "A Salt and Battery". I am hoping to have special guests on the album, and acapella and instrumental versions up too. My main focus is exactly as I stated in "The Doomed Intro". To make an album that I'm not embarrased of in a year. I have made rap albums in the past, and there is not a single one of them that has stood the test of time. There may be moments where I had a good idea, but they are normally FAR outweighed by tracks that make me CRINGE. As a sneak peek, <a href="http://glenncase.songhole.org/content/s ... .mp3">Here is a sloppy, early version of a beat</a> that I am throwing together for the album. The Def Author has a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/defauthor"target ... ">here.</a>

4. Besides the Half Racks, I am in a second band called <a href="http://www.myspace.com/buffalojones"tar ... k">Buffalo Jones</a>. I am the bass player and backup vocalist in the band. We have not recorded anything together yet, and we have had about 5 rehearsals thus far. Local live shows are likely to start happening in the near future. Buffalo Jones has a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/buffalojones"tar ... ">here.</a>

5. The House of Delusions keeps going strong on <a href="http://www.spewgrass.com"target="blank">Spewgrass</a>. It's funny how a suggestion from <a href="http://www.jackshite.com/"target="blank">Jack Shite</a> saying "Hey, you should do a podcast, you'd be good at it." becomes this show that is about to have it's 18th episode on <a href="http://www.superbowl.com/"target="blank">Super Bowl Sunday</a>. It's been fun, although I admit to being more prepared on some weeks than others, and some of the episodes have probably suffered as a result. It's updated every Sunday, and I have never been late with a deadline yet, but I have been close. Of course, now that I have SAID that, I will be late next week. The House of Delusions has a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/houseofdelusions ... ">here.</a>

6. Here's the inside scoop on <a href="http://glenncase.songhole.org/content/R ... ix.mp3">my "Stop Time" remix</a> in the <a href="http://67.18.79.2/forum/viewtopic.php?t ... "blank">mc chris remix contest</a>. I do not expect to make it into the finals with it, but it was fun to make. More than anything, I am hoping that mc gets a kick out of it due to the samples, because it's almost like an inside joke. mc has made references to the 80's band, Journey, at a couple of the shows that I saw him at, and there are a couple of highly recognizable Journey samples in the remix. If you haven't already heard, mc has been using the beat from my <a href="http://glenncase.songhole.org/content/R ... p3">Fett's Vette remix</a> at times on his most recent tour. I was honored to provide it, of course. The man is a class act. The night after the most recent Spokane show, a Boise show got cancelled, and he <a href="http://67.18.79.2/forum/viewtopic.php?t ... ank">STILL SHOWED UP and SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS</a>. He remembered my name after meeting me once. A <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103978/"ta ... ank">CLASS ACT I tell you!</a> I had no intention on creating a Myspace profile specifically for my remixes, but when another myspace user asked for me to post my Fett's Vette Remix so he could add it to his profile? <a href="http://www.myspace.com/glenncaseremix"target="blank">I created one.</a>

7. Rumor has it that <a href="http://glenncase.songhole.org/mo.html"t ... nk">Dreamy Mo and the Commoners</a> may be making a track or two in the near future. Members of this very forum can still vote on <a href="http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.p ... k">whether or not they think Mo is Dreamy.</a> Believe it or not, Dreamy Mo and the Commoners has a Myspace profile that you can access <a href="http://www.myspace.com/dreamymoandtheco ... ">here.</a>

So, there is a LITTLE bit of what I have been up to. There is the normal work, eat, sleep, and pay bills parts too, but everybody does that. On a side note:

I was FLABBERGASTED to find out that someone from Istanbul, Turkey happened upon my website and liked my music. Her blog is written entirely in Turkish. If anyone here speaks the language, and is able to say "Thank you", please feel free to do so for me. I would also be interested in knowing how she found my website, because I think it's pretty freaking cool that my music has been heard so far away, much LESS enjoyed!

ROCK!

Thanks for the compliment.

I can say that they are already swamped with CDs that they have had no time to review, which is why they needed help. I think that every album they have reviewed is also of signed artists.

I wouldn't be surprised if they could end up doing a special story on the state of DIY music online at some point.

Couldn't hurt to ask though. I would recommend sending an e-mail or myspace message to Jeff from Treble. His contact e-mail is on the website, and I think he's the main guy who checks the myspace profile.

For the curious: my first two assignments are the new Electric Six album, and an album by Morning Star.

heh, so they're an indie magazine and not a magazine focusing on indie music... err... indie label music magazine?
anyway nah i won't bother them if those are the parameters. it would probably help them to post a message of that sort though. if i'm asking, probably other people are too.

Oh man, you're lucky I wasn't around to read this when it first happened, since I'm the crankiest motherfucker of all time (besides Samuel L.). Also, I don't puctuate correctly when using parantheses.

Anyway, I'm not going to bother reading the thread, so I'll just say I hope everybody got less cranky with time.

Oh, and as for where I've been, I've been NOT recording any music. Or even really touching my bass. I HAVE been listening to my old music and deciding most of it sucks. Man, why didn't you people tell me it sucked? Oh. Wait. You did. *smiley wink*

Also, I work a lot and smoke a lot of weed and play a lot of videogames and still pine for the same girl who was the reason for MISS' brief and incredibly depressing song-making period. So, yeah, nothing's changed. Joy.

Hope you are all well and making music and loving life and stuff.

P.S. I miss "old" Yook as well. This "new" Yook is an asshole.

Don't know, haven't recorded anything in over a year. Um...it sounds like puppies being kicked, maybe? Or unwelcome catcalls after a long, grey day? I'm sure it is unpleasant, but sought after by a small yet fervent fanbase, thanks to the power of the internet for niches.

Or something.

If any of you are in my general area, that being the suburbs of Philadelphia, you should really come see me in The Music Man. It's pretty damn good, the sets are crazy, we all have shoulderpads, I have a solo, and the real kicker? At the end there are about 120 of us playing trombone/various marching band instruments. In the aisles. About 3ft away from the audience. It's pretty damn impressive.

So if you want to come, and trust me, you really want to come, you should PM me so I can grab you some tickets.

Also, I look a crazy old grandma in it. Make up, wigs, and costumes, oh my.

I'll be in San Francisco this Friday through Tuesday. Pretty busy (redwoods, museums, etc) but if there're any good gigs or fun events happening I'll try and slip out.

Who's around?
