Here's my "Hide Your Love Away". This is a song I recorded for my 80+ year old mother and her 2 sisters. They have come out to see my band play more than a few times but it's a band and loud. So I started recording some accoustic stuff to put on a CD for them to have, this is one of those songs. 2 of the guys in the band are helping with back vocals and the flute part at the end. One of those guys is my friend/mentor/confidante/vocal instructor/drinking buddy/mp3 hoster and all around good guy, LMNOP.

I just remembered that I have a Lennon cover already sitting around. I recorded Imagine a while back, so please enjoy it if you have never heard my version of it before.

I just remembered that I had an unfinished version of "You Can't Do That" lying around from 2003. I will add a guitar solo and some backup vocals tonight maybe, but for the curious... Here are the parts that I finished in 2003.

Glenn Case - <a href="http://glenncase.songhole.org/Lennon/yo ... t.mp3">You Can't Do That (Unfinished)</a>

If I get around to the vocals and solo, I will be over-writing this version.

Stream updated with 15-16's entry and this one.

ROCK!

One more from me&thePockets -- <a href="http://members.cox.net/keiliki/Woman.mp3">Woman</a>

This one was done pretty much musically verbatim to the original, but fun as heck to put together. This whole exercise was fun, in fact. Thanks.

By the way, that "Oh My Love" is great.

I was listening to random mp3s and "Cold Turkey" came on. It seemed like a simple song so I decided to try to cover it. That didn't work, but it did prompt me to listen for another song that might work. I decided to do a last-minute version of "Love". Erin showed up in time to contribute some nice vocals, so here's our cover:

John Lennon's "Love", by Merisan

Hey. Sorry I'm always late to the party, but at least I brought two songs. The first one didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but those who like my voice in its slightly stressed mode may enjoy it. The second one was my lovely wife's idea and it was a good one. I prefer it. Thanks for this thread, Glenn! I will listen to others soon.

Dig a Pony

Oh Yoko

EDIT: Oh, by the way, I was going to do Jealous Guy, but that other dude beat me to it. I was also going to do Beautiful Boy and I still might.

Good tribute

Post by Ross »

Yesterday afternoon I downloaded all the entries that had been posted, burnt a CD, and my wife and I played it in the car on the way to her company's X-mas party. I really enjoyed listening ot everyone's contributions and am proud to have participated myself. A great Idea, Glenn, and thanks ot Seamus for the heads-up that got me onboard.

Excellent tribute - sad day.

Thanks, Roymond. The mix could probably be WAY better, but it was fun to record.

The first post and the stream have been updated with the tracks from Merisan and Frankie Big Face. So check those out if you like.

ROCK!

I love how the intro hauls ass a la 'Revolution.' This is how 'Nobody Told Me' would sound if it was recorded by the (White Album) Beatles.

Glenn: I actually like your version of 'Nobody Told Me' better than the original. (And I like the original quite a bit)

BTW, I know it's well past its due date, but I almost have a cover of 'She Said She Said' done. Should I finish it for this?
