so you find "and i'm the only one here with straight teeth" to be a defensible lyric? you don't understand why that might make people reach straight for the skip button?
haha, some of you kids are ridiculous. it was funny at first how you were getting all upset when someone posts about a taco. its even funnier how someone's incorportated it into dancing when on their trip at italy . its nice how your comments are good at showing that you like to complain and get mad over 3rd grade humor. we've all heard the chiding and whining, and keep at it if you want... but seriously.. if it were me, id wet my pants over something more important. its only making a bigger "asstassticical" person stand out.

yeeaah, I try to ooze as much emotion as I can but I'm scared of sounding like Creed. I tried copying Frank black once but I can't pull it off. Writing lyrics worth singing is definitely a useful prerequisite, so I'm gonna kidnap Luke Henley and get a mouth transplant

A-Log
Don’t like the vocals and synth panned hard left and right. Samples are fun but didn’t add much to the song for me. Agree about the timing comments of others, but if you are new to this keep going and take the constructive criticism offered without letting it get to you
Bjam
Given this is from an AAD I thought the structure, style and lyrics were good. A bit of breadth in the pan would have made it more interesting as would some doubling of guitar. Would love to see this developed out and given a bit more production.
Chuck Chuck Moose
Nice jazzy vibe. If there was a more funk groove here, I would swear you were Jay from Jamiroquai. Like the guitar in the middle break at 3:00 and at the end. Nice job.
Damien Verrett
Pretty nice lyrics but not digging the lo-fi Nintendo tones. The melody and riffs are fine its just I’m not feeling the song with the instrumentation you used.
Dark Liberty
Punk yet not punk. Given the tools you have at hand, I think this was okay, but didn’t really get the anger of the punky style you were going for.
Fourth Doctor
Hmmm nice intro it’s leading me in. Break around 1:45 isn’t as nice, could have done with something more JMJarre solo’y. End doesn’t really take me anywhere
Hot Tub Combo
You need to find someone with more mikes, a mixer and a multi tracking system cos the music seems okay (apart from the ‘muscular’ drummer). Song sounds like it could be good. Piano is great just wonder if there are too many styles fighting in the band? That said for a one take recording for posterity it will at least be a benchmark for you as you take your musical talents and grow your recording skills with them. Hmm tiring listening to this for 5 minutes of those drums…oh good he threw his sticks away
IPA
I like this song and there is way too little accordion in modern music so kudos for that. The repetitive riffs gets wearing so thank goodness for the breakdown at 2:25. Otherwise the overall recording quality let the song down.
Jesse Cooper
Nice song, sweet as in sugary, the tone on the guitar was very dull, would have been better with a brighter acoustic sound I think. Very coffeeshop singer but nice nonetheless.
Johnny Cashpoint
Oh J$ this is so nice makes me a little homesick. Quite sweet for you. Chips in paper…yes please!
Klownhole
Not my style as you know by now, but actually the structure of this is good for what it is and it is well recorded. The synth/faux organ is not quite raspy enough to fit the rest to my ears. But otherwise there is a good EQ and balance to this. Phew…okay I made it through to the end I am so glad you guys were having fun!
MC Paul Denyer
Nicely produced but Nah I just can’t get motivated by rap…sorry Denyer
Melvin
Damn you are so reliable. I like this and its well done if anything I wish you’d driven the tempo more or let it go a bit more in the middle break. Good job
Motor Monkeys
Well done song nicely constructed but a little sterile. I can hear you were having fun doing it, but something is making it just seem….lacking in energy. That said it’s a toe tapper!
Mr. Man and Dr. Funk
Now you see that’s what I mean, this is a really nicely written, performed and produced song. Balance and tone are nice. The clean guitar panned left throughout the verses and chorus is kinda meh! Distracting, superfluous, chimey and annoying either lose it or back it in the mix. However, the tone on the lead in the break is extremely nice. Good job boys, now see me in my office for behavioural training!
sonofsupercar
This is very well done for what it is. Well performed, nice dynamic to the song with changes in tempo and intensity. All that said, I would leave the room as it is not my kinda thing….boring old fart syndrome I am afraid
State Shirt
Extremely nice job. The guitar however is annoying me with that grinding bass would prefer a cleaner tone on both those, but over that the vocals are stellar. Nicely subdued but distinct drums. Good job!
Steve Gamble
LOL….Oh Steve this is very cute. Nice job and loving the one take “feelâ€

no, really. take a hint from TMBG - keep it simple. if your recording gear and skills suck, then try to put as few elements into a song as possible, and try to make each one CLEAN. not clean as in not distorted, but clean as in well defined, clean as in the whole song would sound good over a telephone.
there are a lot of things that can go wrong on a distorted guitar track. the least you can do is give your song (and your listeners) a fighting chance.

I wasn't neccessarily suggesting that everyone run out and try it, just that distortion + phaser sounds really badass when done by a professional engineer in 1972.

Opinions are like assholes – everybody’s got one. However, a person with two assholes is considerably more relevant than a person who gives their opinion twice.

A person who gives their opinion twice is expected, when in the company of someone who posts their song twice.

Blue - I can't make you love me, but I'm going to try, dammit. The fight right after the next fight. I swear!

Ummm, yeah, you got me. I'm totally picking a fight when I point out that you posted your song twice, and people post songs to get feedback.
If I was trying to pick a fight in earnest, I'd just review your song.

Personally, my favs are Melvin, sonofsupercar, State Shirt, and Tiny Robots.
But Melvin and blue, your mixes, maybe just the bass instrument in your mixes, are low-cut pretty heavily. Listen to SS after listening to sos, or vice versa.

Damien Verritt: At first I was onboard this ship. I was playing A Boy and His Blob in my head and I was smiling, but the vocals put me off for just a second. I don't know what it is, they creeped me out at first, something about your tone. But then I got more into it and I think this is a nice little song.
Melvin: I hate knowing how your songs sound before I listen to them. There's always something really interesting that's hiding behind, you know, being Ozma. And I want to see what that is, hear it and love it. You could be unpredictable, I swear.
Fourth Doctor: I feel like I'm at the menu of a sci-fi adventure point-and-click game from the early-90s, but like I had to get the phone so I'm not playing yet and it's just going going going going going in the background. I kind of like the vocals, though.
Johnny Cashpoint: Hmm, I wasn't sure what to expect when I kept reading what other people said about this. It wasn't this, though. I admire the break from form, but I'm not sure that the focus put on the vocals/lyrics is working so hot for you. But I think maybe it's just that I need to let myself get used to this. I'm not sure.
Dark Liberty: MIDI drums depress me. And also this kind of sounds like a teen cartoon show theme song.
Tommy Sheets: Doo wot? Doo wop. Oh, never mind. This is not doo wop. This is Tom Petty? You sound committed, which is important. I kinda dig this, you sound like you love America.
Jesse Cooper: This is fuckin' nice. Smooth and easy, warm and fluid. Be confident, it sounds good, and without that liiittle quaver in the voice it would be spot-on.
Hot Tub Combo: Yeah, so, I’m really sorry that we have yet to find a good way to record ourselves live. I thought this was at least a passable mix, but it doesn’t really do the song justice. Apologies.
Chuck Chuck Moose: This is competent and cheesy as fucking hell.
Those Meddling Kids: I just always love this shit. I couldn’t even tell you why. Your vocals sound less sure this time around, though, are you trying to cop a British accent? But um, this sounds a little like Broken Social Scene, but also not really. I always like your guitarwork.
sonofsupercar: A bit posty, but more Tortoise than Slint. And I don’t like Tortoise. It’s the sort of jazzass drums that break this one for me. Ah, there’s the Slinty part. These vocals are a bit flaccidy. I just think this could pack more punch-cha-cha. It gains more steam by the end, that’s where the song should have been the whole time I think. Post-rock minus intensity equals shoegaze. And shoegaze equals only good when it’s MBV.
MC Paul Denyer: Ew dude. This is lazy-sounding and ungood. There’s no real progression to this.
The I.P.A.: This sounds very promising at the beginning. Yeah, it is promising. I love slacker indie pop. And off-key keyboards. This is real nice. Um, and the break at the end is fucking great.
Stateshirt: Celebratory early-Radiohead days arena pop? Didn’t expect it, but this is ok I guess. Not very enthralling though, you know? Or that original. But well-crafted.
Motor Monkeys: This is fun, but it could be way louder and more ROCKous. Way way way more. Fun though and well and good and all. Nice falsetto.
Klownhole: I can’t tell what I think of Klownhole. They threaten to be original, but end up sort of just sounding like a less mega-awesome GWAR. With a little more BAM POW TWOK this could really kick my fucking ass, though.
Bjam: This sounds like more of the same, but I guess lyrically you’re getting... different? I don’t know, you always sound committed and that’s good. But try to really tear it up one of these days, break out or whatever.
Steve Gamble: It’s nights in Britain. Five Nights in Britain.
Tiny Robots: This shit is all over in Tucson, but it usually sounds a lot dustier and sunstroked. The sorta southwestern pop thing though is always pretty nice though, but you could use a little more grit I think.
A-Log: Well your lyrics aren’t very good.
Veuve Clique: Your voice sounds like you don’t give a shit. You have to have to have to give a shit. Or at least sound like it. Oh and fucking garageband loops. Fucking god damn garageband loops.
Mr. Man and Dr. Funk: This is good pop music, but I’m not listening to the lyrics. Because when I do I stop liking it as much. This reminds me of recent Nada Surf, which is nowhere near as good as old Nada Surf but still means you have the knack for writing songs that sound like making out in high school.
