i'm working on something for "baby"
i will cop to the fact that it's going to be "inspired" by prince, meaning it's not at all a copy of his tune (never heard it) but the arrangement and lyrics are "inspired" by his style, or at least my impression of it. let's face it, i've never been shy of trying my hand at a falsetto.
it may make you laugh or cry, or hopefully do both.

Had something really good for so blue (well the first 4 bars anyhow) have now decided to scrap it in favour of a song about a window cleaner... in a very Gary Numan style... (or a least that's the idea).

YES!
Mine is about 'crazy' business owners. Does the rest of the world have that, businessmen pretending to be crazy or insane to sell stuff?

Are you telling me Clark isn't really crazy? He is just pretending!?!

Crazy Eddie was the original, and was from New York. I saw a fascinating show about him a couple months ago. <a href="

I would be more convinced that Barry was actually Mad if when you went to his shop, instead of seeing discounted kitchen goods, he was sitting there smearing his own faeces on the walls.

The Purple Reign has begun!
The object is to create an original song based on one of the titles from Mr. Purple's first album.
"For You"
"In Love"
"Soft and Wet"
"Crazy You"
"Just as Long as We're Together"
"Baby"
"My Love Is Forever"
"So Blue"
"I'm Yours"
Songs are due by November 30th, 2007. Submit them to
purpletapes@gmail.com. The collected songs will be posted on December 1st.
We will also be accepting lyrical submissions (Lyrics 4 U) that can be used by bands participating in the project. If you want your lyrics to be used in the "Lyrics 4 U" section, please include the following message in your e-mail: "U have my blessing"
In December of 2007, people will have the chance to listen to the submitted entries, they will have NEW titles to work with, AND they will be able to vote on their favorites from "For You". In the meantime, a running tally of the number of entries we have received for each title will be kept at purpletapes.com.

I just suddenly got inspired for 'Soft and Wet', and (mostly) wrote a song in like 5 minutes. I may very well be in this.

Have you worked in radio? It really sounds like it. You have that whole "PSA" motif down to a science.
Oh, and did you mean to say "November 31st?"
EDIT: Hot damn, but you work fast.

Thanks. I work in radio now, but my voice is rarely used actually. I am more of a behind the scenes guy that makes sure that a couple of live local talk shows run smoothly, and I babysit anywhere from 1 to 7 stations depending on the shift. My pay rate is very, very low.

I did NOT mean to say that, and as your edit implies, I fixed it shortly after posting the first mp3 with the wrong date.

Thanks, Niveous. I appreciate the positive feedback from my co-conspiritor of sorts.

You have a great radio voice Glen. You sound a lot like one of the DJs I listen to pretty much daily. His name is Lightening from 106.7 KROQ in Los Angeles.
Anyway, I'm pumped to start work on something this weekend. My bathroom project is about done and I'm ready to make music again.

My goal this weekend is to talk Phil in to starting work on this. I'd like to do "For You" or maybe "In Love"... both would be fun!

If you Redmons want some collaborative fun, I have a week off next week, so i have plenty of time to bring the bugglegum punk to any demo produced over the weekend

I did too! I was thinking of donating the lyrics as I'm imagining them in a different style than what I can even attempt. Oh, and they are rated X for eXtra blunt. Here are a few words from them:
mound
twat
epic
voyeuristic
exhibitionist
tongue dive (okay, that's two words, but they really go 2gether like a horse and carriage)
furied
deviations
hellbent
Sound interesting? I'll donate all of the lyrics for this tune after I pen a bridge.

Thanks for the compliments on my voice, y'all! I do what I can.
Purple Reign got some love in the local paper today. Unfortunately, there is no mention of Niveous, but it's still pretty cool.

Nice coverage, Glenn. You sure don't like to do anything half-assed.
I'll disagree with you about the first article. I don't get what an open letter like that is trying to do. Aftr all the author didn't link to his awesome band's page. WTF? What's wrong with digging around past frinkin MySpace? I bet if he put the couple of band names he liked and asked for recommendations of similarly capable bands he'd get some decent references. Who wants to hear him whine about it? Jeeez. And where's his offer to set up a venue where the young music scene can pratice and hone their craft?

I'm curious about what folks think about the writers' strike. If it goes on, the writers' guild strikes will shake up TV, movies and even book industries. They want increased roylaties! Go figure. Do they deserve such consideration? Should they be happy with things as they are?
