When I moved to LA a friend gave me a worn out P-Bass. I stripped the paint off of it, replaced the pickups (with brand new EMG Select P-Bass pickups) and electronics, and created a design on the bare wood using a soldering iron, a blowtorch, and metal leafing. I also replaced the cheesy black electronics cover with one made of cedar.
The (hopefully) completed Viracocha Bass will be debuting at the show on Saturday, and it is for sale. All it needs is a couple more coats of finish and some intensive buffing. Pictures follow:

Alright I promised it would be done within two years and here it is: the audio from last nights show plus several pictures.
http://www.abcdarian.com/sfla/
Nota bene:
- Sorry to all for laming out and crashing last night. I look forward to hanging strong in Boston.
- Sorry to Loyalty Day because my computer crashed and I missed your first song
- I also apologize for the camera operator being rather gus-o-centric
Other than that let me just say that everyone's set was so much fun and of course as usual everyone was really cool and willing to pitch in to make songfights rock.

Great show all! People said it was one of the most consistently good shows we've put on. I had a great time meeting, hanging out, and playing with everyone.
Thanks to Sean for putting on a trouble free event.
Audio sounds great and I look forward to having the time to explore all the tracks and photos.
Be well,
Ken

I need to look at this forum more often. How did I miss this show?
It would have been fun to come 'round. Well, I was up the street at the Roxy anyway.
I suppose next time.

Wow, that was a lot of fun. Breaking it down with the hootnanny, yeah. Great to meet the 'fighters I hadn't met yet. You rock, Sean, for putting it together and the smoothness of the gig, especially for us performing n00bs, heh. Glad to have the audio, too.
Max a.k.a. Albatross grabbed some video on his digital camera, one from each set I think (well, except ours, heh), and I'll be linking those once I get the AVIs compressed down into MPEGs. Each is only 3 minutes long (camera limitations), so there's some groovus-interruptus. Just warning y'all.
Too much fun!

I got two from JB's set, one each from LD, pfm, and Gus. Sorry, Ken, none from your solo set.Rabid Garfunkel wrote:Max a.k.a. Anyway, what an exhausting yet exhilarating week. I think our maiden gig went about as well as we had a right to expect. Everyone performed so well and was so amazingly cool, and I got to knock two items off my life's "to do" list:
1) Play a real gig on an actual stage
2) Sing Dead Kennedys' "Too Drunk To Fuck" in a karaoke bar
So, to Sean, Ken, Chris, JB, Sam, Heidi, Erin, Bob (wherever he is), and anyone else I'm missing, it was a distinct honor and pleasure to meet you all. You are princes among men, princesses among women, and true forces for good in the universe.

Great job everybody! It was a really fantastic show, and I was repeatedly impressed by how nice and cool everybody was. This community is really an amazing phenomenon and I'm grateful to be a part of it.
The Primitive Screwheads were great, and I never would have guessed it was their first performance. Ken's solo set was pretty emotional. I had a blast playing with Chris, Ken, and JB for the PFM set. JB's set was so awesome! It was obvious he and Gus had had some time to rehearse the songs, and Ken had obviously learned them pretty well on his own. Best Red Robot backing vocals evar, as someone said. Of course I had fun during the LD set, and last but not least Gus rocked! Sean, your songs really shine with that group.
Thanks to Sean for doing so much of the work of making the show happen. I can't wait for the next one! Maybe another Bay Area show some time in the next couple months?

More pictures!

They're a tad grainy. Sadly I think my camera is on the fritz. Also its batteries died and I didn't get any pictures of Gus. Otherwise I got some decent ones.

(and I swear I'll get the compressing done of the fragments of video from the show up real soon now)
