I think you (perhaps intentionally, for the purposes of humor) missed his point. Mico Saudad is a true collaborator. When he came to the studio to record his "Radio Ready", he had a concept, some lyrics, and some changes in mind. He involved me, Marcus, and Mad Dog creatively without telling us what to do. He expected us to figure out our roles and contribute. The bass line that I played is totally mine, for example. The Marcus part was totally created by Marcus. And Mad Dog had to provide his own dance call. It's not empty praise he is looking for. It's synergy. I can totally relate to what he loves (and misses) about working that way. It's a gas.

Actually, I was 100% trying to humorously use Vilayanur Ramachandran's method to relieve Micro's phantom limb pain. I don't know why I used "ego" as an example, it just came to me and made me chuckle to myself. I might have been channeling Stuart Smalley. Besides, I don't know how to spell synergy. Go ahead, look up slightly to the right and imagine it and tell me it's not funny, lol. But yes, I've heard Micro Suadad's stuff in the past and present, which I thoroughly enjoy. So whatever inspired him should most definitely continued. But I hear what you're saying, the combined efforts in making music when everyone gels as one, really is a "gas". I don't get enough of it anymore. Song Fight has been a great alternative to physical collaborations.

Of course, I too was just going for a laugh. The funny thing is I once almost collaborated with Mico without him even knowing it. I absolutely loved his entry for Georgia's Hand, but thought it might sound even better with a heavy beat and maybe some judicious extending/rearranging. So I downloaded the track and started working on a secret remix. But, since the song was apparently recorded without a click track and I only had rigid, programmable drums at my disposal, I spent a good couple of hours trying to match the tempo before I had to give up. Too bad.

Yeah, I was going to synth-up a Bjam song once too, and found that the G&G tempo wandered too much for me to match up with (no offense meant to Bjam, I love her musics). Same deal. I was hoping to find another way around that problem, but no luck yet.

Some of you may not know that he does a *lot* of interesting quirky stuff that just kind of seems like a byproduct of him existing. Helps make interactive carnival-type games, designed and built his own house, curates art exhibits, organized lego robot building competitions, was recently interviewed on NPR about his Mr. Potatohead collection, etc.

You know, I was just thinking about this the other day. Also, you forgot his his own brand of beer and a co-owner of a radical hippie web site called Song Fight.....with a "!".

Mico, I really dig where you're coming from. It truly sounds like you could not go on without some sort of musical creative output, and that is completely awesome to me. I sort of experienced what you described last year when I was living back in Seattle, away from all the friends I'd made through music. Everyone does love to be recognized for what they do, especially if it's a passion like music is with (I'm assuming) everyone here. But still, a toast to creativity without ego creeping in should be in order. Here here!

If it truly is the vote you're after, I would suggest writing a song that is really catchy and easily digested. I don't mean offense to any of the vote-hoarders, I mean winners, out there. But most reviewers and listeners hear a song once, and decide on it's fate then and there. My 'favourite band' is Sleater-Kinney (RIP), and they wouldn't get much respect here. If you're aiming for a sound that's a little off-centre, then you're gonna pay for it with a lack of votes. You'll still get tons of interest and support on this site, cos there are some eclectic and hip tastes here. But you won't get alot of votes.
