Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't it totally a force? If I'm swinging a paint can around, my arm exerts a centripetal force on the can, keeping it in its arc. I for one am surprised and frankly a bit puzzled by the results, but that's generally how things go with Nur Ein, it seems like. Everybody did a great job, and I don't really feel like anybody deserved to be eliminated for any of these songs. Condolences to Frankie and Glenn and Rachael, and good luck to those still in it.

The paint in the can has momentum (mass x velocity). It is not applying a force (mass x acceleration). The force being applied is the centripetal force causing the linear velocity of the paint to accelerate to zero.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised by my elimination, but it is sad to go. With the one-day delay (remember when we lost Nigel?), I would likely have had to forfeit if I made it past the next round (I'm leaving for Europe on June 24) and that would have been stupid and unfair to anyone who was eliminated in the previous round. So this comes at a good time. I also really like my songs this week and I'd rather go out with something I'm proud of than with something I'm not. Good luck to all remaining contestants!

Yes. And by Newton's Third Law of Motion, there must be an equal but opposite centrifugal force to balance this centripetal force.

Wow. I am blown away by the results! Despite how strong Frankie's song(s) were, I can understand demerits for lack of challenge usage. But I'm more surprised at the G+R results, really. Good luck to the final 4. I don't mean to put any pressure on you guys, but this next song is going to have to be outstanding to stay in this competition.

Frankie Big Face
I like the first riff a lot. It's simple but very cool. I like the lyrics a lot too. Good vocal melody. Nice chorus hook. The solo's kind of mediocre and the first song is kind of short. The interruption part is sort of amusing, I guess. Kind of limits the replay value though. The second song isn't really grabbing me. And it's too long. I wish you had just gone back to flesh out the first song more or something. I really enjoyed the first song a lot, mostly because of the lyrics.

Glenn & Rachael
You're definitely repeating that two note phrase in your verse melody way too many times. I wish the guitar was much louder. It sounds very thin, buzzy, and quiet. Oy, that verse melody is kind of grating. I think there wound up being too many sudden stops/starts, and it made the song feel too herky jerky for me. This song needs a bridge, too. It felt a little underdeveloped.

Ken Mahru
I like the Mellotron and the melodica. Everything sounds really good. Great chorus. The instrumental interlude is nice but I wish this had a different bridge. It does get to be a bit repetitive, as much as I enjoy the chorus. Nice "aah aah" stuff at the end. I agree with Frankie (or whoever it was) that it would have been nice to have something more like the staccato outro part earlier in the song.

Paco Del Stinko
Cool starting groove. I wish the bass were louder. Higher singing part sounds a little weird next to the part before it. Whoa, things are getting creepy with the effected vocals. Not sure I like the ending of the B part that much. I think maybe there's too much phaser on too many tracks for me. I really like the big changeup at the end, though I wish the drums were bigger sounding, like with a lot more crash cymbal, to really kick things up a notch. It also would have been nice if that part had developed a little more. I like how abruptly it came in but wished it had done more than just repeat a few times then end.

Ross Durand
This song felt the most complete to me, in terms of its structure and arrangement. Nice acoustic guitar. I'm really enjoying your vocals a lot in this song. Something about the style and the melodies really fits your voice for me. The water glasses are awesome. They really do make me think of wind blowing. Good changes in dynamics.

TWSA
This one was my favorite. I really like the atmosphere you create, and I'm way into the guitar whale noises. Good use of all your voices, too. The echo-y guitar stuff is great, really underwater sounding. Good changes in dynamics, and instrumentation. Is that some kind of watery piano or rhodes in there? I wish there had been some or a louder metronome sort of part on the drums during the instrumental break, like some eighth note ride hits or something, to make that part feel even more energetic. I like how heavy things get after the instrumental break. Nice outro, too. You guys are a powerful supergroup. We've got to get you all together for a live gig some time, that would be so awesome!

It was tough to have to cut people from this round. And as usual things didn't turn out the way I thought they would at all. Good job everybody, though.
