All right, I just don't want to miss meeting with all you wonderful people - and SF: Philly was too awesome. May 17 is right between Spring and Summer semester and Airtran tickets look reasonable. However, the wife and I are saving up for a house, so I need to talk with her before confirming. (ooooh, but it would be so fun!) Plus, I've never been to NYC.
Could someone help me out with a place to crash Saturday and Sunday night? Or at least direct me to affordable accommodations?

"Affordable" is quite a variable.
Here's one list. And some folks
stayed here last time, which is a bit industrial, and closer to the afternoon park gig than the evening one.
Anyway, it's a start.

J$, Roymond, Noah & me all in one place. That sounds like an XTRG reunion.

That is
precisely what I'm thinking. Tabitha just gave me the go-ahead, so plane tickets are soon to be ordered.
Next step: does anyone still want to split a room?
Next-next-step : how the
hell could we do something XTRG live...?

Wow, cool. I'm thinking we have all day Saturday to figure that one out. I'm mostly support here, having only one title to my name, but I'm very into this.

I'll split a room with you. I have a coupon for $149 at the Roosevelt, which is apparently a great deal and a lovely hotel in the heart of Manhattan. I need to find 3 nights lodging (fri, sat, sun), and splitting a room there would be kinda sweet I think.
I'm an ok roommate. Lemme know,

Have we got a poster for this?

No we don't. We should have one.
And we should also try and firm up the line-up for who is playing at which show (or both shows).
If you have any questions regarding the Sidewalk Cafe, ask me and I'll forward them to Ben K. (or I'll just take a walk over there...)
If you need more details regarding the place in Prospect Park, Roymond knows more than I on that.
Who's bringing what instruments?

Oh no, that's not included. Read the fine print.
In fact...

I hope to receive the parks permit this week. I'll post details once that is in hand. However, this is an acoustic gig, outdoors in a beautiful setting, hopefully with a roof. We should have the spot 1 - 6:00, so it's a nice window of time. There's a nice lawn nearby for frisbee and general park-like activities.
I'll have my Lowden acoustic at the park. And my new semi-solid Xaviere Tele at the Sidewalk Cafe. I can also bring a bass. And other stuff.

main question is will there be a drum set there? Will it have cymbals? will there be a PA with plenty of mics? Sidewalk Cafe I'm speaking of.

Dumb Tourist Question Time:
Turns out my friends won't be in NY when we arrive so I need to get some accom for a few days before the SF! show.
I have found some places to rent in East Village. What is that like as a neighbourhood? For me, a respectable (cough) midddle-aged professional man and my family? How likely is it we will be murdered in our beds? Is there somewhere better I should be looking at?
After the show, we will be staying a week and a half on the upper east side. Given that - where should we spend our first 4 days in town, that is convenient for the Brooklyn picnic and East Village show, and provide us with the full "NYC Experience"? Remembering that I have 4 year old who has no interest at all in hearing me sing (again), and wife with fairly similar views - so they probably wont want to hang around too long for the night time show - but they will be at the picnic? So I will probably have to take them home in between dinner and Sun night show - then come back again myself.
Ideas?
NB: I like Indian food. I dislike noisy traffic and busy streets. My daughter likes parks, and swimming pools and ice cream. I can't remember what my wife likes, probably Indian food too. Maybe.

The east village is all the rage these days, what with mod glass hotels going up and what not. But it is variable block-to-block. Good food, funky dives, centrally located, interesting environment. I'd take it over the upper east or west sides, where it's just really crowded and noisy without much of the intrigue.
Given that you'll be on the upper east side near central park and ice cream for the latter part of your visit, why not a few nights down town?

I saw this show advertised on The Sidewalk Cafe website:
http://www.sidewalkmusic.net/sidewalkblog/?page_id=3
Sunday, May 17: 8-Melissa Cox, 9-SONGFIGHT EAST COAST GATHERING! Veteran musicians who compete on http://www.songfight.org with gather at the Sidewalk to play all the hits!
Excuse me?!?!?!
VETERAN!!!
VETERAN!!!!!!!!!!
As in, from Latin
vetus, meaning "old"!!!!! Somebody's taking liberties here....
I don't know about the rest of you old pricks - but there is nothing "veteran" about me. I've got a Facebook page and everything!!! I am down wid the kids, fo'shizzle

I am probably not coming to this anymore

My travel plans for May got all messed up, and I had to make new plans with 3 weeks notice and cancel all my other flights and hotels and whatnot. Ridiculous. I'm not getting back to Boston until Saturday night, and I don't know if after traveling ridiculously on Saturday if I could make it down to NYC on the Sunday(time and money-wise)
Sucks since there's a ton of people coming I'd like to have met.
So.

Bummer, Bjam... was looking forward to seeing you again. Let us know if you decide to be really crazy.
I edited the list I made a while back, split it into sections given who has said which set they would be playing in. Check it out
here. If you are under the third heading, let us know which set you intend to play.

I did a little editing on your list.
I'm still waiting on a response from Ben K regarding the stage set-up at Sidewalk.
Hey Roymond, did the permit go through or are we gonna have to do this on the down low?
