I'm living with that mix I sent in a couple weeks ago. So if you were waiting on me to post it all, don't wait for me. I'm excited to hear who did what and all the usual fun of the GOM.

Thanks! Glad you liked my suggestion. Great cover, your voice really fits the song

Yeah, it was a great suggestion, Nick. I hadn't really heard of Tim Hardin before, but I like him a lot now. Really sad story though. I mean, it's not a surprise in a way. You can really hear it in his voice

Last night... I recieved no new entries, so I'm putting up the site tonight.
I recieved entries from Glennny, Fluffy, Armageddon Machines, Schlimminy Cricket, Johnny Cashpoint, Nick Soma, J Lampson, & Paco del Stinko (and my own entry).
If you sent in a song and don't see yourself listed above, you should resend: iamniveous at gmail.

I am underway, but yes, I have slacked on this badly. But I have every intention of being in eventually. I’ve done ten GoMs and even though I haven’t always made the deadline I have never stiffed my giftee outright, so you know I’m good for it. But for now, yes, let’s hear what y’all have so far.
My PC’s power supply just bought the farm so I can’t record again until I get a new one. And no, you don’t want a laptop Garageband version.

Sorry my GOM recipient - your song is in active creation! No stiffing. Insert sob story here. Apologies in advance if the mix is fucked - I am now something like 80% deaf in my right ear after having been sick for 3 weeks. Should be done this weekend.

Well, I just spent the last few minutes doing a really nice post here...and then I hit the wrong key and it all went into the ether. And since I'm now crunched for time... (Bells & whistles will come once the scragglers appear.)

fluffy - love it. i think this song really uses your voice well; i think this is one of the best vocals i've heard from you. i also really enjoy the modernizations you added to the lyrics. the background vox are suitably manic. thanks!

Yay! It was a lot of fun to do.
I tweeted it at Weird Al after it went live here. Hopefully he'll listen to it at some point. :)

First off: Glennny - wow, thank you so much. This is amazing and perfect. Given the subject material of the song, sharing vocal duties with Annabella was a brilliant choice.
Secondly: I am working on my cover for John Lampson - I have no intention of stiffing you, good sir. I even have a good excuse this year: I have a very sick cat right now (like very, very sick - we're talking three surgeries in the last 5 weeks), and I have had little bandwidth for anything that isn't dragging myself to work and then coming home and checking out in front of the TV. I have two weeks off coming up after next week, so I'll have lots of time for music, and I fully intend to get this done.

I'm so sorry mine was submitted earlier this morning; I did Christina Aguilara's "Genie in a Bottle;" sorry I don't know how to upload from here, but it's on my ReverbNation.

Thank you and take your time. I'm looking forward to hearing what you choose and what you do with it, but your family (this includes pets) trumps all that. Be physically and mentally where you need to, and if that's not in the studio, that's just fine with me.

Niv! Great job, man. I've always enjoyed that song for the rhythm, great bass line, all the frills of it's production. But this stripped down version brings the lyrics to light and sets a great reflective mood. Love it. Thanks so much!

I went ahead and covered for one of the stragglers. For j$, here's
my blasphemous rendition of "Don't Look at Me (I Don't Like It)" by the Lovely Eggs.
It really highlights my vocal limitations, while also underscoring the poor quality of my recording equipment. Oh, and I Americanized the line about "lend us a pound." Apologies in advance.

Ha! That's great! The microphone clipping even adds something, somehow and I love the transatlantic lyric update

Ta very much!

Just chiming in to say that I still have every intention of getting this done. I finally got my power supply replaced so I have a working PC again.
Does Armageddon Machines = Heuristics Inc. + j$? It sure sounds like it. And that's exactly how I would expect something from the two of you to sound. I love it, thank you.

Heuristics Inc. + J$ = Dollar Bill and the Inkpoints
Heuristics Inc. + J$ + Niveous = Armageddon Machines

If there's a Heuristics Inc + Niveous and a J$ + Niveous then you can form a complete Abelian group.
I'm sure there's a music pun hidden in that math pun, too.
