That Subtle album is damn hot isn't it. I think I need to check out serena maneesh.
From Monument To Masses - The impossible leap in 100 simple steps. I love math-rock about as much as I hate the nametag. This album sounds to me like never giving up despite the weight of it all.

John Frusciante - Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt
Insane and wonderful four-track heroin addict stuff. "Your Pussy Is Glued to a Building on Fire" is amazing. His other stuff is good too, but this is just brilliantly unhinged.

I'm a bit late to the Sufjan Stevens bandwagon, but I made it eventually. Also, Imogen Heap's "Speak for Yourself" and The Album Leaf's "Seal Beach EP" (with bonus live tracks) are on constant rotation.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Show Your Bones". There may not be another blockbuster like "Maps" on this album but songs like "Warrior", "The Sweets" and "Phenomena" are exceptional.

I adore the Imogen Heap record.
I think too often when a young woman relases her own album it
a. gets thrown in with the Lilith fair crowd.
b. is thought that a producer is behind pulling the strings.
Interesting interview

Great article for the home recording enthusiast and producer.

by "actually GOOD" do you mean, better than the division bell good, better than david gilmour good, or merely better than the pros and cons of hitchhiking good?

I just bought the new Buckethead CD, the one released on John Zorn's Tzadik label. It's called Kaleidoscalp and it's fucking amazing. Every Buckethead album I think "he's used up all his tricks, surely," but he keeps proving again and again that shredders are assholes and he's the only real guitar genius out there as far as solo-work goes. So, basically, get this fucking album.

Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited, modern artists tackling the old master.
All pretty good, but The Kills' 'I Call It Art' is fantastic, even if you don't know the original.

The Joggers
Saw these guys last night at our favorite <a href="
http://www.4215washington.com" target="_blank">local dive</a>.
They were supposed to open for Ted Leo who couldn't be there. For the 40 people that stayed anyway they rocked the house.
They sound like a groovyer pavement.
