Why wouldn't it be, Wreckdom? You can be a part. Plus you have a list that includes Ween & Mr. Bungle. Prime choices.

DAMN IT! Now your <a href="http://pfmmusic.com/pfm-onmyblock.mp3">"On my block"</a> is stuck in my freeking head! How do you DO that?!?!!

I do appologize for that. Not one of my strongest SF songs. I keep thinking about re-arranging it but never do. Perhaps I will make it the b-side on the "Thing Called Kim" EP.

Now I just have to hope that this EP you speak of will actually happen. I can even assist in some way if need be, but I would love to see that happen.

ROCK!

I also wish to be in this.

My choices are as follows.

Slint - Nosferatu Man

Melvins - Jew Boy Flower Head

Boots Randolph - Yakety Sax

Thin Lizzzy - Don't Believe A Word

Also, I think the world would be a better place if Johnny Cashpoint covered "Typical Girls" by the Slits at some point.

I actually have recorded a version of this, in the past. The world did not become a better place, as far as I could tell :)

I have total anxiety of influence when it comes to covering the best band in the world ever, but if I was to do a Slits song, it would be either 'Shoplifting' or 'New Town' actually. *Hums ... 'Ten quid for the lot, we payed ... F*CK ALL' to himself*

Okay, here are my picks:

"Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth
"Crystal" by New Order
"Nothing Better" by The Postal Service
"On Fire" by Lightning Bolt

Subject to change...but maybe not.
I decided not to choose Fantomas' Delirium Cordia as my only choice.

i'd just like to take this moment to state i hope i do NOT get either wreckdom's or calfborg's list, simply for the fact that it would be nearly impossible to choose ONE from such great songs. :D

also i am wondering: when is the deadline for signing up... i'm kind of hoping the assignments are made relatively soon, so as perhaps to allow something like two months to work on this before the holidays? like if the assignments were passed out on 10/25 or something and then the due date was like christmas? or hanukah or whatever...

The sounds just about right, Voice. Assignments will be given out on or close to 10/25. As for the exact due date, it's still up in the air. We can start debating that later.

boy, the choosing four songs part was really hard because there is such a wide range of people participating here, i'm sure i could probably choose a different song i'd like to hear from each person.......

oh. i guess that's why the "wish list" thread got started somewhere else. i'll go look for that. :D

So I was digging through some old cardboard boxes filled with four-track tapes, and I found some relevant stuff, so, please allow me to slightly update my four choices, without actually changing any of them:
bzl wrote:In! To make it less challengifying this year, here are four songs that the rock and roll band "charcoal" have already covered at some point in the past. Because if I can do it, anyone can.
Powerline: by Husker du (PROOF)
Charlotte sometimes: by the Cure (PROOF)
Ninety-nine red balloons: by Nena (PROOF)
New dawn fades: by Joy division (PROOF)

I decided to change some of my picks:

"Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth
"On Fire" by Lightning Bolt
>"Nude As the News" by Cat Power
>"This Bitter Pill" by Dashboard Confessional (hehe)

I thought I've give somebody the chance to get down with their whiny, angst-ridden self on that last choice.

There is a friend of mine named Sarah who did a pretty decent version of this song, even though she doesn't play guitar regularly. Good choice in my opinion.

ROCK!

This is my official announcement of in-ness. I haven't picked my 4 songs yet, but I've been thinking about it for months now.

Will wonders never cease?! You guys keep amazing me with some of these choices.

I saw these guys live in Spokane on 02.21.04 at the B-Side. I won tickets, actually, but had never heard of them before that.

They put on an AMAZING live show, ESPECIALLY for a 3 piece band.

I almost put 'crumble' from their new album as one of my 4 choices.

They actually come back to Spokane this month, same venue. Needless to say I will be there.

ROCK!

Glenn (DR FUNK)
I thought I was the only Dada fan in existence. They played a tiny club in Seattle but it was on Madi's birthday, so we couldn't go. Oh, now I gotta think of a Dada song to make one of my four choices...

They have a new album? (Jim rushes over to Amazon....) Well, so they do. Trip to B&N at lunch, looks like.
