man, i had forgotten how much grad school actually sucks up my life and energy. thanks, everyone, for the reviews/feedback so far. i'll be posting my own soon.

- great opening drum roll
- the bass grumble is really good, too
- the interplay between your rather thin voice and the meater music is insteresting; i'll have to listen a few more time to decide if i like the juxtaposition or not

"Constantinople / My Date With The President's Daughter", Sausage Boy
- a really interesting lope to the drum/bass beat
- don't like the garbled vox
- would like to have more sonic variety with "President's Daughter" break

"Peaches", me
- i DID have fun doing this
- once i get my computer back from the shop i'm going to remix this without the drums and tweak the coda vox; J$, i think you're right: my guitar playing doesn't mesh well with a standard 4/4 time. something to work on before i inflict on other people again.
- i think there's too much going on with the vox; they need to be tightened and made less schizophrenic

"Lizard Lady", ExtraCredit
- very interesting sonic experimentation
- for some reason, i DO like these garbled vox
- this needs to break out at some point in time, or just change up some

"Harry the Head", Primitive Screwheads et al.
- opening vox are out of tune; i think this is on purpose, but it's not a great way to open the song
- the female vox, on the other hand, are fab
- great backing music, very Telepopmusik

Extra Credit: Impressive. Quite a faithful cover of the original. Would have liked to hear you put your own kind of spin on it.

Noah Mclaughlin: I remember when i made poor decisions in my songs. Hang on, wait, I still do. I think by now you are well aware of the concensus on your guitar timing. So I will say some positive stuff instead. I can hear that you are enjoying yourself, which is good. If you don't have any talent, enthusiasm can make a good supplement. I know this from experience.

Primitive Screwheads and the rest: For some reason, this reminds me of The War of The Worlds rock opera. Its just got this kind of dramatic flair to it, but with a touch of absurd subjectivity.

J$: Fucking hell. Do I even need to say anything? This is clearly fucking awesome. Its exciting, with shades of the original, but with the J$ spin. This is so going onto my mp3 playa. Gets my top vote.

Hey, sorry for my absense the last few days. I just moved into my new apartment and didn't have the internet set up right away. Anyways: I think this fight will actually be closed sometime within-the-week-ish. Idunno; it's also partially up to Roy.. I do anticipate hearing your entries; but they may not be up long enough to collect the hordes of last-minute votes.

Well, I was holding out in hopes of seeing additional entries, but since this fight's about to end, I guess I should do my long-overdue review post.

Rock ON! I'd love to know how those drums were done, it's a damn good sampling job if that's the case. Totally groovalicious. I guess my only gripe is that it's too short. Yeah, I know you're covering one of those minute-long songs from the Commercial Album, but still, what are the odds of getting an extended 12" dance remix?

Sausage Boy
After many listenings, this has become downright infectious - one of those songs that repeatedly makes you tilt your head to the right (other songs are strictly left-tilters). It has that nice "burrow under your skin on its way to your brain" kind of quality.

Noah McLaughlin
Definitely prefer the new version. This works much better as a free-style G+G odyssey without that rigid drum track weighing it down. Ever hear of the <A href="http://www.ghettobillies.com/">Ghettobillies</A>? This reminds me a LOT of them. Guitar is quite nice, vox are hit and miss - I like the style but they're a bit, what's the word we all like to use, pitchy?

Extra Credit
I'm with j$ on this - by far the most Residential. This is one excellent mindfuck. The old lady-sounding voice is spot on.

Primitive Screwheads - me, Rabid, and our special guest groupies (er, I mean vocalists)
I honestly don't know how we transformed this into a James Bond theme. Just sort of happened that way.

Oh, one more thing - singing girls rule. Seriously, everyone should have access to at least one or two.

Maybe a bit of a disappointing turnout, but what is here is quality. Everyone gets a "Good." Hooray! j$ gets the nod for Best Cover.

Nice and Residential sparse-like sound. Not so hot on the Presidents' delivery, but hey, points for the chutzpah. Now to get that instrumental line out of my head!

Heh, the shifting (back and forth in tempo, by the slightest of hairs) multiple vox tracks throughout gives it an unintended (I'm assuming) Residential feel. Nice axe slinging.
