I think Robin and I are going to do this.

I've always wanted to get to San Francisco and didn't pull the trigger on Songfight I-LWC. Get this, I thought the whole idea of internet people meeting up in real life was just too dangerous and crazy at the time. (I read too much news and that was the fear they were peddling back then)

2010 was a weird year for me so I didn't make it then either.

Now, I'm thinking about going.

I've got to get back to myself in a lot of ways and this even might be helping with that. So to any of you out there who remember me helping ruin your songs on stage, I'm going to be making more efforts to practice up in general. See, I haven't been playing that much lately. My studio is all set-up pretty and you might catch me even exercising on the drums, but I've got to pick up that bass again. Pick up that guitar and start singing until I can stop looking at my hands again, etc...

If my wife, Robin is there... then that may force me to actually be ready to present myself as the true-rock-star that I really am.

Sockpuppet is also in. It was hard getting the entire band to agree but we eventually came to a decision.

D00d, we might need a drummer! And of course it would be good to see you again. Long time. Drinking French wine all night in Tampa was fun (but the hangover the next morning was awful)

I think this is by far the earliest the date and venue has been solidified ever. Plus it's a cool bar! Well done Sam.

Ken deserves the credit, he handled booking with the gig. Thanks Ken!

Great venue, and seems like it’s shaping up to be a great lineup! Very sad I can’t be there. 2021, baby!

It was Erin's car, but yeah, when we had a show there when it was called The Accordion there was indeed a bizarre car wreck incident. It was freaky!
Let the record show that it occurred during a sonofsupercar set.
A stolen Bentley pinballing up and down the street.
No one was hurt, that’s the take away.

The other place upstairs generated some good memories. Getting locked in the bathroom during a Dubose Triangle sound check. No one could hear me yelling cus they were loud. Mo and front were so spot on together.

And Brother Machine, “let’s steal some shit and break some shit and let’s start a riot”. Good stuff.

Ok, if anything is happening and planes are flying, I’ll try to be there. Especially if I get work, as next week may be my last billable hours for a while.

So given the unlikelihood of this event actually happening live and "in person", has there been any discussion of doing a "virtual" Song Fight! Live show as a back up? We've never missed a year!

There's been a few scattered discussions about how to do an online concert, presumably for the purpose of figuring out how to do this should it come down to it.

I still need to get around to trying out JamKazam, which supposedly is a solution for exactly this.

I've broached the subject with Ken offline a bit. I've been holding out but I think it's probably time to start thinking about shifting to doing a live stream or something. Sad stuff! :(

I hope the club survives. It would be a shame if it closed.

Oh man, yeah, I am very worried about the Plough's long term prospects. :/ If anybody feels like trying to help the out they have a GoFundMe up here:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-sta ... -stay-open

I'm just generally worried about all venues, and our rehearsal space place, etc. etc. It's a topic I can't really think about cause I don't want to spiral down a depressing path. :( At least one pretty pivotal awesome dump of a venue, the kind of place any shitty band starting out could get a gig, has closed. (The Stork Club in Oakland in case you're familiar.)

Yeah all these places are already hanging on by a thread as it is. Lots of places in Seattle have been dropping like flies too.

If anyone is able, please check out this JamKazam concert to see if it might be a viable option for this year's songfight live:

JamKazam is hosting a groundbreaking free live music festival on Facebook. Preview: https://youtu.be/I-5zCQs8A6I. 8 full bands will perform 30-minute sets, with band members playing remotely from each of their individual homes, yet together 100% live and in sync over the Internet using JamKazam.

I think more realistic would be a series of live streams of folks playing individually from their homes. I don't know what a good schedule for that would be. One long marathon series of streams so everybody plays their sets roughly contiguously? A few folks a night for a week? One person a night all month?
