Posting this from a Wii

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

The EBGames bundles are pretty much your bet bet. Fortunately they now have reasonable game selections and come with accessories you'd probably want anyway (second wiimote/nunchuck, the Nyko chargedock, etc.)

They're pretty common at the Wal-Marts in my area now. (Wii Fit is very hard to find though.)

Well, neither the GameSpot, Target, nor Best Buy at my local shopping center have any Wiis as of today, and that link to Wal-Mart wants me to buy a bare Wii for $536 and then add things on to it.

I can't say as I agree that Wiis are thick on the ground judging by the conditions in South East Atlanta.

I'm just not willing to pay more than $250 for a Wii. If I add a couple games and a controller, that's different, but I haven't seen that promotion. However I'm still not wanting to pay $400 or so up front for a Wii, even if I'm getting stuff I'd get anyway-- much more comfortable to spread that expense out.

We definitely would like a Wii, though.

The EBGames bundle is about the same as the cost of the component items. Currently you get the Wii, two Wiimotes, two Nunchuks, Super Mario Galaxy, WiiPlay (which is the source of one of the nunchuks), and the Nyko ChargeDock. WiiPlay kind of sucks (but it's basically just $10 more than a second Wiimote and it's at least somewhat amusing) and the Nyko ChargeDock is a great accessory if you don't like wasting lots of money and natural resources on AA batteries. (I bought mine separately and it's already more than paid for itself.)

I mean okay it sucks that EBGames is doing this bundle nonsense but at least it's not like they're gouging on the price like most of the opportunistic retailers, they're just frontloading your expenses somewhat on things which you were probably going to get anyway.

If you have a Hollywood Video near you, it might not hurt to check there. They started selling video games and systems recently, and people still don't think of them as a place to go for these things just yet.

That worked out to my advantage this afternoon. I was able to get a copy of Wii Fit!

ROCK!

Oh.

That's a different deal then the one I got from Walmart last year. At the end I paid about that much but I got a Wii, 2 controllers, a classic controller, 2 nunchucks, and 3 games.

I just looked at the link. It looks like $522 isn't for "the bare Wii," it's just the lowest bundle price. It lets you build your own bundle, which is a nicer setup than EBGames, although it sucks that they force you to add so much stuff to it.

It *seemed* like, when I went there, the price was $536, and asked me to add stuff below, which then started raising the price. I expected it to be "$536 is for the bundle, choose the options you want in the bundle below." I was annoyed to see the price start jumping when I started clicking boxes and junk.

In any case, I want a Wii, but not at $522 with those bundled options. I consider it to be a little less than ethical to sell them only in the bundle. Kind of feel like they're trying to gouge people who just want a Wii, taking advantage of the scarcity, which is pretty much artificial anyway.

*shrug* No Wii for me right now.

Yeah, that's why I feel like EBGames is the least evil of the places where you can get one from because their bundle is closest to what most people are going to buy at the outset anyway.
