Does this mean I have immunity? Because I could sure use some immunity this week. (two evening concerts, auditions all day Saturday, out of town all day Sunday)

I was going for the disharmonic definition of cacophony, and that left panned guitar definitely does not mesh well. So, does that mean you don't like my lyrics or you do? I answered in IRC, but for all the folks out there, I used a retrigger effect on the drums from dBlue Glitch. Also, distortion, lots of it. And ZeroCrossing maximizer.

Had I more time and not immune, I would have worked the end into some screaming rage masterful mess thing.

DJ Ranger Den - I was completely with you through the first verse & diggin' everything. Then I got lost halfway through the 2nd verse. I had to look up the term "cacophony" before doing these reviews. I didn't let this challenge effect my scoring too much simply cause I didn't feel qualified to judge it. I didn't really hear it in this song...but that could just be me.

WreckdoM - It sounded crazy...which is what you were going for I guess. The overall experience just wasn't enjoyable for me.

Paco del Stinko - Cute. I really liked that you went in a different direction for everyone else. I really didn't see this coming, but I think you can make it to the next round.

Billy's Little Trip - Really liked the lyrics, with one exception. A condom full of cum isn't an image I needed. Music rocked, but I didn't hear anything in terms of cacophony? It'll hurt you a little, but you're still safe in my rankings. Hopefully the other judges picked up on something I missed, cause this was rockin'.

Frankie Big Face - Wasn't a huge fan of that odd instrumental section, but the lyrics were great. Overall the song worked in a creepy way. Well done.

John Kloberdanz - Just wasn't all that catchy to me. Lyrics weren't bad...but going accapella can be tough to hold someone's attention.

Ross Durand - It made me feel bad ass, therefore you are bad ass. I really did feel as if I were staring into a scope trying to put the crosshairs on someone. Well done.

Bram Tant - The music sounded chaotic. Maybe you meant to do that because it's about an insane guy, but it didn't come together for me. Lyrically there isn't much there unfortunately.

Manhattan Glutton - At least you won last round.

The Worldly Self Assurance - Some lines I really dug, while other made me go "meh". The music & vocals were well done. I've complained a lot about 5 minute + songs recently. This has been one of the few to hold my attention throughout, but honestly even it could be shortened.

Merisan - Nice vocals...again. Music was ok, but this is the first time I didn't really care for the story you told.

No, but he says "he needs his meds and he needs a nap" which I would think implies more a medical drug use than recreational, also a female voice echoes this phrase, possibly a staff member, which is meant to suggest he is in an institution. Too subtle, I guess?

Doesn't imply that to me. Anyhow, that was a smaller thing that didn't influence my decisions very much.

There were so many voices in there, I stopped trying to make sense of what they were for.

This will come in pieces:

Paco del Stinko: Jeez Louise...it is Paco the frickking Tank Engine. This has no business succeeding. But it does. This is a beautiful piece of work. Well done. A dumb song that oozes genius.

Frankie Big Face: Like Paco - this should not work. I had pre-determined that I did not want this title to tell me about Patients 1 to 6. And I do not like MaCartneyesque warblings at the best of times. But I liked this. I have no effing idea what the lyrics are about - but they were intrguing enough to keep me interested. Easily my favourite of yours so far in this comp. Great cacophony. That is what I wanted to hear.

Ross Durand: Now, unlike Paco and Frankie - this sounded like it should have worked - but did not quite connect with me. Purely personal taste here - it is beautifully written, sounds great, and I rate this the BEST cacophony of the round - the horns give it a "Laughing Clowns" type feel - but the guitar rock stuff just didn't grab me. As I said - just personal taste.

Merisan: This is a dull song that fails the challenge. Erin's voice is still good - but it only gets you so far.

John Klobodanz: Great use of challenge. Not what I expected - but it works for me. I liked this as a song - I found the lyrics a bit weak. But it was still a good listen.

Wreckdom: I was hoping you would give a tender piano ballad in perfect pitch - and then use as your defense "It sounds like cacopony to me - here are 100 Songfight entries by WreckdoM that sound melodic to me"
Whatever - this is great. Great song, great performance, and great use of challenge (which would have been no challenge to you).



DJRangerDen: On first listen I thought - "oh, girl with great voice - this is Merisan" - then was surprised to hear Erin pop up a bit later. I really liked this. You pass the challenge ....JUST - and that is what annoys me. This song would be awesome with some real light/shade stuff. You need real cacophony. I want to hear you go APESHIT and smash those frickking piano keys until tiny pools of blood appear as you scream like a banshee....and then.....it goes quiet again and your nice song comes back in.

...well, that's what I want to hear anyway.....

Bran Tant This was really pretty enjoyable. Got a bit sloppy in parts - but sloppy in a Velvet Undergroundy sort of way - which is acceptable. Limited lyricwise - but still quite effective despite that.

Worldly Self Assurance: This is a dull song that fails the challenge.

Just kidding - this is great. You should not be gone. Obviously some of the judges here are as useless as a condom full of cum. Your best song of the competition for mine. I liked the lyrics, and I liked how you met the challenge by singing painfully out of tune....sorry, joke again - couldn't resist it - this is actually one of the best vocals I have heard from you. It all sounds pretty good to me. And the discordant guitar does pass the cacophony test for me.
