Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
I've had a terrible cold for the last few days and haven't started working on mine yet. So much for getting it done by Christmas. Meh.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
I've started...barely. At least I chose a song.
I never had any intention of finishing by Christmas...I've been working under the assumption that the due date will be some time mid-January, as it usually is.

Man...the hardest part of doing a good cover is finding that balance where you've kept enough of the original to recognize what made it great while changing enough to make it your own. Good covers never completely destroy the fabric of the original, but should never been note-for-note copies, either. It's a tough line to walk, but I think I've got some good ideas for mine.BBABM wrote:i tried to keep it as close to the requested as possible while still making it as weird as possible.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
Happy Holidays! I have officially broken my condenser mic, so unfortunately my giftee will only receive (unless I find a good, cheap mic, and the money to buy it before due date) the true to life version I have now, and not the addition of a second straight bbabm remake of the song. This may also put me out for unstiffing, and any regular fights as well but on a lighter note, I got a PA for Christmas so live shows should be better!

I wasn't aware we were Meant to have it done by Christmas. Eeep! When is for the reallyreally truly due-date? I'd like to get mine done and I have semi-cool plans for it and I'm sure that without a real date they will all come to tragic ruin.

Happy Holidays. All the songs will be due after the MLK Holiday. So enjoy, the three day weekend for the last minute touches (or last minute work for all y'all slackers out there) but songs need to be in by January 17th.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
I still haven't started on mine because I am still pretty sick. Maybe next weekend. Unfortunately the weekend after that I'm going to be busy. I might end up being a stiffer for the first time in my Song Fight career.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
i am taking this song as an opportunity to learn how to use this hardware sampler i've had for years. going well so far, now that i figured out that there was a bent pin in the scsi cable connector! hopefully i don't get too bogged down in technical details to finish the song

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
Well, after a long, long, loooooooooooong time staring at my songs and going "What the hell am I going to do with these?" I finally have an angle and things are proceeding apace. January 16? I really hope to be done by next Monday or Tuesday. This is a big relief, as I didn't want to be a stiffer on my first venture into the GOM.
