Wow. That is super weird. It's monophonic and there is a switch on the "bow" to switch the "string" you're playing on. Reminds me of a theremin, which apparently they are making next. Pretty neat as a demo of their tech.
Whoa. "Head Like A Hole" mashed up with "I Really Really Really Really Really Really Like You" by Carly Rae Jepsen

This is a friend of mine from Toowoomba.
Got any feedback - I'll pass it onto her:

I haven't heard this yet cuz I'm at work with the volume turned down, but I watched it a couple of times. The song looks sincere and expressive. Her gentle head nodding and facial contortions really send some kind of message, something about love and loneliness or memories of days gone by or something, especially the eyebrows and the constant hint of a hidden smile that never fully materializes, keeping the viewer entranced. Good lighting, professional video quality. The streak of color in her hair is a nice touch. The highlight for me is around 1:03-1:05 where she gazes upward wistfully. I like how she grabs her keys at the end, but it's a little offputting to see her plucking at the guitar in the next instant and then walking away--I would've left out any guitar playing imagery after the keys part, but that's just a minor quibble.
I'll watch this again later, probably with the sound on, and may or may not develop further opinions.

The song doesn't really do anything for me (I've heard a billion songs like that already) but her voice is great, and she's decent at fingerstyle guitar.

Just got around to listening to this. I think its beautiful and I like the hook from the beginning of the sound of keys invoking a strong emotion. It's that sort of subtlety in lyrics that make singer/songwriter songs better than manufactured songs.

Thanks everyone for the feedback... I agree with all of it including the part where there's a lot of this kind of stuff and it's not really that exciting. In that way though, I think the muggles that make up most audiences feel like it's pretty receivable, and it does what it's trying to do easily. Not that it was manufactured that way though; it pretty much wrote itself this one.
I look forward to reading about all the Boilermakers!

My music night has moved to Wednesdays to hang with these folk, a truly talented and diverse crowd. While there's a lot of Classical Indian & jazz fusion, occasionally they wander into pop.
Their Prince tribute from the Spring is fine:

Jeff DeSantis has been one of my favorite Song Fighters for a while now, and I recently dug up one of his old YouTube videos that I thought was really great. I thought I'd share.

Everybody else in the world was probably already aware of Rob Scallon, but I just found him. His musical madlibs videos have convinced me that complaining about shitty title prompts is for weaklings. ( combined with finding out Rivers Cuomo's lyrics are piles of nonsense) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-2Rx4npLFk
I will leave this here in the hope that reve discovers it and uses this knowledge to make something amazing.

Look Mum No Computer had a lot of very cool videos. I wish I had the mad skills.
Rob Scallon was funny, but I like River Cuoumo's semi-random lyrics better.

Space exploration and volcanoes are top of my list of passive fascinations.
From this past weekend, this is inspiring...sad...hot!
Had she entered Nur Ein's 3:20/Ambiance challenge, that would have been amazing!
OK, she would have been a little late. And the song went to 3:30...

I was talking with a coworker the other day about forgotten bands of the 80s, and I mentioned the Slickee Boys. This video is amazing. Peak 80s plus a dash of cable access with a side of VHS. Worth it for the intro alone.

You Am I's Jewels & Bullets video is one of my favourite filmclips of all time; I think it's what kick started my love affair with op art.
They toured Dublin recently so I messaged a friend there because I had a spare ticket. He responded with "Wow, that's really cool. So nineties!" and then I felt old.
