that was cute and charming. And he actually didn't look like a dork with the spoon, somehow...rather managing to look cool instead.

ok, I saw Herbie the first time of many in 1978, at the Saratoga Jazz Festival. During George Benson's "On Broadway" he came out and pushed Chick Corea off the piano seat, who eventual got back on and they shared it while jamming out. Then Jeff Beck came on stage and stuck white hot iron rods through George Benson's eyes (well, the ripping black Les Paul version of white hot iron rods anyway) and all was good. My point is: 1) yes, I'm old. 2) in this video Herbie is more than 30 years older, yet looks just the same!

so I'm visiting my first cousin once removed up in Yorkshire, UK. He lives in a reconstructed farm house made of blocks of stone from a 15th century...pile of blocks of stone. My point is I'm laughing the fuck my face off trying not to wake everyone up in this pile of stone and you're not helping. Plus we drank a shit load of wine, so theres that.

Sweet jam! That little Aussie girl sure has come a long way. The first time I saw Tal was on an Allman brothers concert dvd I have. She was like 18 at that time. What most impresses me about her style is that she doesn't showboat with slap and pop playing. She's more classic, but her finger work is more like a lead guitar player.
Here's a good example of her style playing with Jeff Beck. Awesome!

Maybe it's just me. I hate that song, I think it's boring, and it reminds me of school band. I know it's a classic, and every jazz/blues/funk/whatever musician plays it (I have played it)... I still hate it.

That's because you're young. But it might be that you are just seeing the long groove in the middle of the concert.
But I get it. I feel that way about DubStep. Maybe I'm too old. Although that vid you posted is funny.

Funny, I only heard about Gotye about a month ago. It's nice to hear so much musicianship these days in pop rock. But these guys nailed the cover in the best way! ....and they have way too much time on their hands. LoVe this vid.

Bach Toccata and fugue in D minor on glass harmonic. I used one on I'd Be Scared If I Believed but, well, not quite like this...though I would be more amazed if he played this on the bed of a tractor trailer like Bjork or something
