fluffy porcupine / Birds Of Our Own
with many, many apologies to Lennon and McCartney
I always wanted a bird of my own
my mother had one but it had flown
away when she opened the window
to let it be free as she loved it so

she always said that it would be
"if you love someone you set them free"
and I know that I would love it so
and I would open the window

It's always sad when one's not good
being in a cage of Norwegian wood
I'd hope that someone would love me so
much as to open my window

I once had a man or should I say
he once had me for a single day
I thought that he had loved me so
but he would not open my window

I flew away in a single day
he chased me but I ran away
back to a place that I could be
myself and by myself be free

I always wanted a bird of my own
my mother had one but it had flown
away when she opened the window
to let it be free as she loved it so

I'm posting this because I was forced to overprocess my vocals and mix them way in the back to cover for the summer cold I have. I think you can actually make 'em out if you know what they are, otherwise you'll probably be guessing.
DDA - "Birds Of Our Own"

Baby have you noticed it aint like before.
When you leave, these days, I'm holding the door.

You're not worried about a thing tonight.
Singin' "Every little thing's gonna be alright."

Baby, we don't bother wanting more anymore.
Lately, waking's making like deja vu du jour.

You're not worried about a thing tonight.
Singin' "Every little thing's gonna be alright."

Chorus:
Three little birds of our own design
spread clockwork wings and sweetly chime,
but the harmony grows fainter as they unwind.

Baby baby, what's that reticence for?
Maybe saving something's something we should work for.

You're not worried...
Chorus.

--------Birds of Our Own - Broken Class--------

A nest is just a pile of twigs
Neatly woven with strings and things
Until a bird calls it home
And has a family of his own
This house is only wood and rock
Just like the others on our block
But now with birds of our own
You make this house a home

Birds of our own
You shine with your innocence
Birds of our own
We take joy in your ignorance
Birds of our own
A new lease on life - seen through the eyes of a child

As the chick learns to fly
It grows and soars up in the sky
Matures and leaves the nest alone
To go make a home if it's own

You will also grow and learn
Learning new things at every turn
To leave and make your own home
Someday having birds of your own

Birds of your own
Teach them well along the way
Birds of your own
Tell them you love them every day
Birds of your own
The miracle of life goes on

Erin's Towel Goblin - Birds of Our Own
The happy times we've
shared here forever
Memories of masking tape
spankings and leather

These can't compare to
their coats of feathers
yes, I'm referring to
the birds we own - together

These are birds
Of a very special breed
Better back up, son
Better give 'em what they need

These are birds
most indubitably
we're so lucky, girl
they belong to you and me

we worked so hard to have birds of our own
but now it seems these birds have flown

What we gonna do about it?
WE HAVE TO GET THEM BACK

Let me tell you all just how it began
We have a neighbor, and his name is Sam
He took our birds, and with them he ran
We gonna get the birds back, THAT'S THE PLAN

Hi I'm Sam I swear I didn't take your birds
HEY THERE SAM YOU BETTER GIVE US THE BIRDS
THE NOTION THAT YOU DIDN'T TAKE THEM IS ABSURD

It's no lie I saw them lift their wings and fly away

Sorry Sam, but there's something about your tone
Makes me think you might have all these birds of our own
We'll be back Sam, you best be believing
Next time, there'll be no use in deceiving

birds of my own - frankie big face

if it keeps you here
i will hold you down
if it makes you mine
i will pull you to the ground

if it holds you near
i will keep you bound
if you'd just stay by my side
i'd wear you like a crown

if god sees the sparrow fall
then why can't he see me?
the devil sends his magpies
seven strong through my tv
i won't be fooled by arrows
they will land where they are thrown
will i ever will i ever
have birds of my own?

if you are lost
i won't be found
if you fly to heaven
i will wallow underground

if you disappear
it will break me down
if you fly away from me
i'll cry until i've drowned

if god sees the sparrow fall
then why can't he see me?
the devil sends his magpies
seven strong through my tv
i won't be fooled by arrows
they will land where they are thrown
will i ever will i ever
have birds of my own?

BIRDS OF OUR OWN
By Xenon Light

===========================================
Spread my wings to the midnight sky,
just like I spread my words.
Tonight I'm going to learn to fly,
I'll circumscribe the world.

If I fall I'm going to die,
but that is for the best.
I'f I succeed, I'll be with my kind,
and if I fail I'll rest.

I know that I won't chicken out.
I'm leaving the ground behind
as you and I reach to the sky
with birds of our own kind.

(Birds of a feather flock together,
Birds of a feather flock together,
Birds of a feather flock together,
Birds of our own, this is trial by flight!)

I'm feeling kinda sweet and kinda sour,
though I know that I'm the one.
I might be dead within the hour
if I fall from the great beyond.

It all comes tumbling down, all around,
like a plane crash, I impact with the ground.
The tears come streaming down from your eyes
like a memory of Icarus tumbling from the sky.

BIRDS OF OUR OWN by Patrick W.C. Geraghty (Patrick Clayton)

All the lads who gave their souls
To the world we live throughout this day
And I wonder if we'll make it home
By the break of morning come
By the break of morning come
These are the things that you should know
These are the things that you should know
Before we settle down

You gave me a falcon
It put up a fight
Now I have scars where I weakened my might
You gave a canary
What song it did sing
But now I need earplugs to get me some sleep

Your best intentions the things you have shown
But now I'll give you the birds of our own

You brought me a parrot
With colors ablaze
But now I can't see when I pick out a page
You left me your sparrow
It sits in the tree
And eats all my food when I'm at the museum

Your best intentions the things you have shown
But now I'll give you the birds of our own

With so many birds
It's hard to move
Stuck in the tavern
Drinking my booze
You lent me a raven
It took me to hell
Now a million feet under is where I do dwell

BIRDS of OUR OWN By the John Benjamin Band
-----------------------------

There are birds in the air
Birds of our own
And birds that are theirs

There are birds in the air
Birds of our own
And birds that are theirs

Birds of our own
As seen on alcatraz
In the mind of Al Capone

[UNTOUCHABLES SAMPLE]
He pulls a knife, you pull a gun
He sends one of yours to the hospital,
You send one of his to the morgue.
-------

These birds these
Excellent birds
See you, far though you are

Guns of Navarone
Speak more softly
Than these Birds
These birds
That belong to us
Ours, ours alone
Birds of our own
Birds
Birds of our own
They're flying
Flying over my headstone

And Laurie says:
"Well, just take a right where they're gonna build that new shopping mall
Go straight past where they're gonna put in the freeway
And take a left at what's gonna be the new sports center
And keep going 'til you hit the place where they're thinking of building that drive-in bank

You can't miss it."

"..she suddenly came with a burst of singing, and it was like for a moment, O my brothers, some great bird had flown into the milkbar and I felt all the malenky little hairs on my plott standing endwise, and the shivers crawling up like slow malenky lizards and then down again. Because I knew what she sang."

and take them home

too beautiful to waste

Birds of Our Own by Rewinder

they sing in the yard
and we just listen
we go down to the park to talk to the pigeons
then up to the market to mourn for the chickens
learning all about migration on a tv station
visit the neighbors they got a tropical colored hey hey hey it says hello
it says goodbye
we say goodbye
and oh
how we wish we had birds of our own
in the winter we sit by the pond all alone
no ducks to call or feed or ducks of our own
mallards robins and oh nobody knows
bluejays fenches owls and crows

you got a book about how they sound
I use binoculars to look all around
feeders on the trees
they float in the breeze
they come around
its time to whistle
and how we wish
we had birds of our own
then we wouldn’t have to fly around all alone
don’t like birds as much when they’re just on loan
