On My Block by PrayForMojo

Something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me
I said something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me

Los Angeles is only 15 hours from here
(Am I just supposed to let he go
I'm not good with these seperation things)
1000 miles of road and I'll be there
(The floor may be collapsing now
But I am gonna grow wings)

Something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me
I said something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me

It's time for me to leave my block
It's time for me to leave my block
It's time for me to leave my block
It's time for me to leave now
(x2)

Reality says it'll be 8 months from now
(Am I just supposed to sit and wait
I'm not good with these patience kind of things)
Once I begin I'll never turn around
(My home may be collapsing now
But I've already grown wings)

Something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me
I said something here's gonna have to break and this time I just know it's gonna be me
(x3)

Greetings! We just discovered Song Fight and think it's the ultimate exercise in songwriting. We have very minimal equipment and we're learning how to use it as we go.

(But we're brilliant writers, really.)

"On My Block" sounds like one of those syrupy Sesame Street songs that tries to applaud diversity and tolerance for the various "people in your neighborhood." So we wrote it from the perspective of a true inner-city child:

On My Block
By Elysian Ring

On my block there's a yellow house
With the windows boarded and the glass broken out
I see people come and go
Who lives there?
An old crack ho
She's skinny and ugly and she looks real sick
But I think she's magic 'cause I heard she does tricks.

On my block there's an empty lot
Where we always throw any garbage we've got
When I pass it I always run
Who lives there?
A homeless bum
He's crazy and dirty and he smells like pee
But he must be happy 'cause he lives rent-free.

Just around the corner
A run-down trailer stands
But it must be home to scientists
'Cause it's called a methamphetamine lab!

On my block there's a scary place
With guns and robbers and people with mace
I see cops there every day
What's it called?
The Circle K

On my block there's so many folks to see
I sometimes wonder which kind
I'm going to grow up to be!

(We have to go now. The Grammys might be calling.)

On My Block
by Factor T

once again he left her out on a limb
he's selfish and also quite dim
there she stands waiting
and contemplating
where would she be without him

(chorus)
that bastard don't know what he's got
'cept a woman that is somewhat hot
come over my way
any day
you'll see what i am, and what he's not

I hope that she would be on my block
giving my front door a knock
come on in Jill
we'll drink our fill
get naked and leave on our socks

(chorus)

you'd like it here on my block
I don't think it would be such a shock
start a new life
become a wife
i'll kick your old man in the cock

i'll kick your old man in the cock

"On My Block" by 15-16 puzzle

On my block, there are people that I haven’t even met
On my block, there are others that I’d rather just forget

On my block, there are people that I haven’t even met
On my block, there are others that I’d rather just forget
On my block, there’s a junkie who just stands out by the curb
And the way he is pacing back and forth leaves me quite disturbed

On my block x 4

(Chorus): I don’t fit in, I don’t belong
Won’t stay in one place for too long
There’s nothin' to see here move along
And on and on

On my block, there’s a couple who commit insurance fraud
Even though what they’re claiming is so fundament-ly flawed
On my block, there’s a loner who hears every little sound
And he peers in your windows trying to find what can't be found

On my block x 4

(Chorus)

On my block, there are people that I haven’t even met
On my block, there are others that I’d rather just forget
On my block there’s a sleeping beauty I’d like to get to know
But I’m stuck for a half-way memorable way to say hello

She’s a ten, I’m a fraction of the number that she rates
Then again every action has a slim chance of getting dates
On my block, I’ma take a shot when I see her walking by
Make her stop, make her notice that there is quite the dashing guy

On her block x 4

On my block, there are people that I haven’t even met
On my block, there are others that I’d rather just forget

"On My Block", Jonas Emmett

On my block there was a man
Who shovelled his walk when it was raining
My mom said "He's crazy.
You walk on the other side of the street
When you come home from school, my dear."

On my block there was a house
One day it looked like a circus tent
If we went in we'd be dead
The older kids said they'd play with us
If we snuck inside, they said

And the cars and trucks and aeroplanes go by
And I never asked Where or Why
Behind the mall there is a road
I never asked "Where does it go?"
To another mall

On my block there was a girl
She skated to school without wearing kneepads
She said to me "You're rad"
And everything was all right
Until she went and moved away

Now my block hasn't changed
In ten or so years; a land of enchantment
The sod gets replanted
And I hit the freeway the day that I left
And stood still
