Zzzzzzzzz. This movie felt extremely rote, by the numbers, mechanical, lifeless, unnecessary, etc. There were maybe a half dozen or so laughs. James Corden managed to bring some life to his late in the game character but then his bit kind of went nowhere. Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina could have been great but I think they didn't get much chance to do anything great. The cameo tie-ins to the previous movie didn't really make sense or work for me, and totally unexplained situation with George Clooney's character and the invention of Sandra Bullock's character's relationship with his felt really hollow too. That said it wasn't like it was terrible, it was all just so fine that I kind of wished it actually had been more terrible. It was just super meh. Why bother?!
