SpinTunes 15 sign-ups and schedule
Posted: Wed Oct 24, 2018 3:21 pm
SpinTunes is a semi-annual elimination competition. It differs from Nur Ein in that it gives topics instead of titles, and it is only four rounds instead of eight. Also the schedule is slightly less arduous than Nur Ein - you get a little over a week to finish each song, followed by a five- or six-day rest period before the next challenge is announced. It usually gets around the same number of competitors as Nur Ein (around 20-35 first round), and historically there has been a noticeable percentage of SongFighters competing in SpinTunes.
Other fun facts:
* There are YouTube listening parties for each round of SpinTunes.
* You may submit songs without competing (called "shadowing"), and those songs are reviewed by the judges and played during the listening parties.
* If you get eliminated from the competition, it is possible to get reinstated; check out the rules for details. It really does happen - there were reinstatements during both SpinTunes 13 and SpinTunes 14.
It also requires competitors to sign up in advance, and there's just two days left to sign up. Signing up just involves emailing the SpinTunes organizer a copy-and-paste statement confirming that you will create and submit new songs, and that you're okay with those new songs being available for download to anyone under Creative Commons, and providing your band name (plus a band bio, links, and/or pics/logo).
The cutoff for sign-ups is Friday, October 26 at 11:59pm Eastern Time (8:59pm PDT). The Round 1 challenge topic will be announced Saturday, October 27.
