Let's get the ball rolling on figuring out where our annual meetup will be this year. Who wants to host? We could host here in the Bay Area as a backup plan but it'd be great to have it in a new city.

Or maybe we return to a "favorite" city we haven't been to in a while like Austin or Seattle?

Denver was fairly west coast. It seems only fair that this year is on the east coast: Boston, New York, Vermont, DC...

Wow, it's been 14 years since Boston, it would be great to have it there again. I don't think we have any active Boston residents at the moment though, do we?

We did New York in 2016 and 2011, but I love New York. Sadly the Sidewalk Cafe closed a couple weeks ago, so our "go to" venue in NY is gone. Probably a lot of other options though.

It's been five years since DC, maybe a five year anniversary show in DC would be cool? JB should have lots of venue connections by now since his punk trio has been gigging a lot, right JB?

On a side note, it would be super awesome if we could have the event make money to give to charity again like in 2017. https://www.songfight.net/forums/viewto ... 32#p206032 We could even plan that in advance and maybe play up the charity fundraiser aspect to help others and to help ourselves with turnout.

I think we could put shows together in DC for sure, but it would have to be over like 3 nights and it would have to be in like, mid-to-late August or September due to the lead times necessary for a show unlikely to bring in a lot of biz. It's also hard to find a place here that will let you go on for forty forevers.

And poor ol' startup founder JB ain't got cash to fling around like he used to...

I know this has traditionally been a two night event, but after the last couple of years, (and the response to this thread) I suspect that one night will be enough for this year's event if that takes some of the pressure off anyone considering hosting.

Or we could do longer sets. And more Song Fight Tribute band! ;P

I will give my annual offer of Toowoomba. But I won’t threaten to come this year. Travelling to Europe in May - so that will use up most of this years holidays for me.

What about Madison WI? Seems like a few folks live out there: Manhattan Glutton, owl, Lucky Spoon...

Well, I have never met the other Madison songfighters as far as I know, but our city is awesome, it's in the middle, and I'm sure I can help rustle something up as far as a place to play and some equipment if you want to do it here, particularly if we have the option of crowdfunding a venue. I know Pigfarmer Jr makes it up here from MO semi-regularly too, and Micah Sommersmith is pretty close by as well.

I would be thrilled to see SF Live come to Madison - I do live nearby and I would be more than willing to help with logistics/planning, although I don't have any direct contacts in terms of venues or anything.

Barring work, I can almost always make a Madison get together.

Also, there are several Fawmers in the area that may be willing to help out with information or contacts etc.,

I am phone typing. I shall elaborate later. AnywY - as a person on the other side of the planet from most of you - I have loved the meet ups - sure my personal circumstances have changed - but this friendship group has always been here for me - and good on you for that !

I wouldn't mind a Madison WI show. Especially if it gets Manhattan Glutton out of hiding. He's only been asking for Madison to be the location for like a decade.

Oh so *now* that I have a baby and zero time, we all want me to host.
