Last day of May, what are you checking out?
I just listened to Duff McKagen - Tenderness and it was pretty good. I kept thinking about how Axl Rose gets a lot of the credit, but Duff wrote some of the songs from Appetite for Destruction as well. This album is kind of bluesy in a classic, classic rock kind of way. Duff's vocals aren't Axl Rose great, but they are good enough for this veteran's album.

I checked out Run Around The Sun by Sacred Paws and it was pretty great! Energetic indie-pop with highlife guitar lines, layered vocals and a brass section.
I also checked out Solipsisters by Katie Dey which is pretty experimental and unusual lo-fi pop with a lot of vocal processing. Interesting, needs further investigation (but then I thought the same about her last album and then didn't put the effort in to figure out whether I liked it).

New Sleater-Kinney! And new Sufjan Stevens! I don't love his super-processed, super-produced stuff and these lyrics are sweet but boring, but I'm still always excited to hear new songs from him.

So glad that new Sleater-Kinney is almost out. They just released a single, but not the whole album yet. It is produced by St. Vincent!

Oh yes I listened to that new Sleater-Kinney song! I guess I forgot because, uh, I kinda hated it. Not keen on that new sound at all.

No particularly strong feelings one way or the other, really. The new Sleater-Kinney song reminded me of The Gossip though, who I've never been keen on.
