If your inner OCD changes that to

No, sir. I refer to the standard capitalization of songfight review thread titles. See the <a href="

Shit...I did the same thing....
Purebigoted - The background keyboards seem muddled behind the bass. I keep listening to your song, and I
am waiting for something to happen. Ahh, here is something. Sounds like Alice in Chains during that bridge
thing. I liked it, but it never really went anywhere.
SFO - Coolness.
Noisebrigade - Can't hear the vocals. The guitar drowns them out. This sounds like a run-of-the-mill ska
song without the brass. It really bored me, it seemed to be a song from a tired genre with nothing new.
Rdurand - Sweet intro. Aww shit. Someone else used the line "Satisfaction Guaranteed". Guess that was
bound to happen. Hell, everytime we hear satisfaction, it's followed by that word. DAMN YOU WORD
ASSOCIATION! Back to the song, I like the part when the acoustic and electric guitars are going back and
forth. I like the background vox singing "Satisfaction".
Tim Hinkle - I like the background vocals behind the verse. The bass track is pretty cool too. I just can't
click with the verse. It just does not register with me. I listened to it about 3 times, and it's no different.
I just was distracted throughout the whole song.
Phunt Dont Tell - What the hell is going on? What is that instrument thats blown? I don't get it.
Phunt Your Friends - Not that instrument again...Shut that thing up. It's like someones taking a bowel movement
into a horn. Wait...is this one of those whale calls that is supposed to sexually arouse me?
Here Let Me Phunt You - Cool, it's already over.
Blick - The guitar sounds like a standard slow rock song. I can hear this on a music video on MTV. I was pretty
bored by it. Mathbox 20 or something like that.
Jute Gyte - WHOOOOAAAAA. This is really too long, especially for someone who doesn't like metal/speedrock, whatever. I suppose I could turn into the Hulk with this music, but then it would give away my identi...crap.
Andre - For an acoustic boy like me, it started off cool. But it kept my interest I suppose. Hmmm, it's
still not over. Too long.
Me - I had a pretty trippy tune this week. The lyrics are pretty much nonsense, althrough some of them make
sense. Alot of my lyrics have a habit of making sense a long time later, but I doubt that will happen this
time. I hated the way the vocals turned out and the way the guitar sounded at the chorus. I did like my
percussion at the bridge, even though it was so simple. Prodcution sucks, but I plan to work on that next
week.
My vote is for either me or Ross Durand.

Andre Was Here at Midnight> Vocals at the beginning sound.. strained. And I don't like the telephone effect (tip: use a green bullet, or something like it for that). Also the bass drum (?) is a bit off; I think the song would be better without it. Yeah.. this would sound a hundred times better if it was just you and a guitar. Good effort.
Here, Let My Phunt You> Whatever.
Jute Gyte> I've always loved you; my favorite grindcore Songfighter. Not only is it grind, it's pretty progressive; and the guitar sound kicks my ass inside out. Okay.. It is a little long, but the ending makes up for that. You fucking rule.
Noise Brigade> Turn the vocals up or the guitar down. The ska part is kinda nifty, but fleeting.. Do that longer, with words on top of it. Couldn't make out all the lyrics, but the sound was a little too 'empty' for me to care what you're saying.
Phunt; Don't Tell> The levels are way too brutal and whatever that sounds is in the middle of the song is downright painful. I have a feeling that's what you're going for. Text-to-speech is shit, too. Oh, there's that sound again. I get no satisfaction.
Phunt Your Friends> The ambient keyboard is nice; why do you have to ruin it with all that noise? Are you just moaning into a paper towel roll? Skipping it as of 1:30 because I can see that it wont go anywhere. Man you could've at least started Lightning Ear-Fart rapping.
Pure Bigoted Fashion> I like this. Basically exactly the same commented I made on your 'Shovel' entry for Spinal Tap. You're awesome. Perfectly filthy. The production/levels could be way better, but this is a good enough song that I don't care right now. Good jorb!
Rik Gerblick> Not my kind of song at all, but I like the guitar. The vocals are decent. Could use more bass, too. Not a bad song, but it needs to pick up somewhere.
Ross Durand> That slap bass (which I'm guessing is midi) is off.. just a little, but enough to bother me. The guitar really should be playing a funk riff; then I'd like it. Not terrible, but I'm not satisfied. Everything just needs to be a bit groovier and a bunch tighter.
Ryan Rickenbach> Can hardly hear anything. Are you underwater? The (lack of) sound honestly ruins the whole song for me. It sounds like it could be cool, but I just can't tell. I'll listen to these all again anyways, when I'm a little more patient.
Songfight Orchestra: Dig the bass, it's kinda bouncy. Again, this has a vert Pink Floyd-ish feeling to it. I'd like to see how it's followed up next week. Who did this one?
Tim Hinkle> You need drums. The guitar solo is a little interrupted by the rythm guitar, maybe turn it down in the background during that piece. Also, the ooooowooooooo in the background could be more prevailant. Cool, but not my bag, baby.
Overall, i'm not too satisfied with this fight.. My vote will almost definitely go to Jute Gyte; with a big nod in the direction of Pure Bigoted Fashion.

Andre - great but not enough to justify nerarly 4 minutes.
Here Let Me Phunt You - creepy, not creepy - you decide.
Jute Gyte - fuck yeah. Too long, of course, but the first 2 minutes are perfect. "My blood is fuck"? Contender.
Noise Brigade - oh curious I was not expecting that. Cool! But I want the keyboard fuck-around brought back, combined with this guitar and nice singing. If this is the same Noise Brigade and not a co-incidental naming scenario ....
Phunt 'n' Tell - who did you nick that bass 'n' drums off? It's annoying me, and blowing through a tube loudly over the top will not bury it.
Phunt 2 - a suggestion - come up with names that seperate you in the stream - it's not helping, unless they are meant to be parts 1 & 2, which from your oft-repeated ethos, they're not.
Pure bigoted Fashion - yeah that's sweet. Mighty bass tone. Contender
Rick Gerblick - nah, not my taste. But I guess it's nice enough. it all sounds too earnest for my tastes. Sorry.
Ross Durand - cool 80s funk - like a chilled James brown (with a white singer of course. I can't think of an apt comparision.) Maybe it's a less electronic Devo redoing 'Satisfaction' I am thinking of ... anyway, good. Contender.
Ryan Rickenbach - this is really lovely - the tripped out sound suits the mix - only it sounds too much like 'Around the Universe' in the verse, or do I mean 'The Universal' by Blur? And the chorus is pure Barney the Dinosaur (not that there's anything wrong with that per se) also there is something creepy about this very fey, sexless voice (not saying you're sexless, just the thinness of the voice on this song) talking about 'flowing juices' ... ahhh, pretty though.
SFO - fabulous, just fabulous. great bass. great way that the apparently disonant and sloppy aprts come together and reveal their rigid purpose at the song's end. great filtering on the vocals. great length! An appetisier for things to come? Contender.
Tim Hinkle - fairly straight forward take on the title lyrically - nice bass but I wish it wasn't panned to the left, but smack down the middle - some great noises - but the solo isn't doing much for me - comes in too early in the song? Good mix, well performed, just not warming to it. Sorry.
Gyte!

Yea, I realized it was Across the Universe after I recorded half the song, because I wrote the first line to one of the actual lyrics. Then I slapped myself and said "Fuck it" and finished the song. It's not exact, but the verse is pretty close.
I really wish I had more time with this, I think it had alot of potential, I just wasn't at home half the week and didn't get enough time to make it good. Such is songfight.

I loved this from the first millesecond. I can hardly type I’m laughing so hard—this is really good. Very groovy, very funky, obviously very heavy. I wish the drums had more punch. It seems at times—like at exactly 1:31 and again at 1:49—that these are parts that have been glued together. Hmm, at 3 minutes, I’m getting a little bored, and then really bored. And if you said “Satisfaction” anywhere in there I missed it. Too bad—there was so much potential.
The Three Phunts
I started skipping through each of these very quickly. I even had time to skip ahead in the 31 second one.
Pure Bigoted Fashion
I liked this a lot. Really funky, great voice. Some of the rhymes seem forced, and I don’t feel there’s enough variety throughout. But I like the added back up vox in the third chorus at 2:17. Great bassline. It really does need some different parts, though.
Rik Gerblick
Good driving music. Pretty good chorus, too. I don’t have too much to offer—it’s not really my style—but it’s good.
Ross Durand
Good drum sound. My complaint is that it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. It’s alright, but it doesn’t really do anything for me.
Ryan Rickenbach
Vocals are really tough to hear. Percussion is funky, there’s some other stuff I can sort of hear that sounds interesting but it gets lost. The bridge is good, but I really dislike the chorus. That cliche “satisfaction guaranteed” really doesn’t work.
Andre was Here at Midnight
There are some pretty serious tempo issues here. If it’s on purpose, which I think it is, you should know it doesn’t work. I don’t dislike the way you sing—it’s kind of cool—but it’s too much combined with that guitar style et al. Really, not a bad song. After all that, I want to hear it again.
Noise Brigade
Vox are hard to hear. There’s kind of a ska thing that kicks in at 42 seconds (and elsewhere) that doesn’t fit. Sounds like you’ve been listening to a lot of Dashboard Confessional.
Tim Hinkle
Cool bass. Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said you were going to relax a bit—that’s a really long break until something happens again. It sounds like some starts making, um, fart noises with their hands at :35. Is that what you’re doing? This needs more structure and more to happen to work, I think. Interesting voice.
Songfight Orchestra
I understand this is part of a bigger picture, but this really doesn’t work on it’s own. Which, of course, is fine, except that I’m hearing it here on it’s own, if that makes any sense.

hey, thanks a lot! it's feels really good to know someone likes my stuff that much.
general notes on my song: i feel that this song is the right length, although i can certainly see why that's not a popular viewpoint, especially taking into account streaming/downloading to review all the songs. also, this song features absolutely no 4/4, in accordance with my goal to songfight all summer without ever using 4/4.

To respond to questions,
I am actually recording a bowel movement through a paper tube. Wait, no. I am actually blowing through a pipe. We call it a phlegmulum.
Phunt; don't tell.'s piece is a "cover" of a Benny Benassi song called Satisfaction. The computerized voice is actually straight from the original which I didnt feel bad stealing from since its been remixed about 10,000 times.
Thanks for listening.

Songfight Orchestra: Who bestowed this wonder of nature upon us?
I'm flabbergasted. VOTE.
Andre: I dig it. It reminds me fondly of sonic youth. Sloppy,
discordant and catchy.
jute gyte: this is pretty great, but the screaming needs to be
louder or somehow stand out more, especially in the instrumentally
minimal parts.
noise brigade: some good ideas in here.
pure bigoted fashion: nice bassline. i'm a sucker for punky
aesthetics with weird organs/electronics. awesome.
Rik Gerblick: this is good.. you have a cool voice.
Ross Durand: good lyrics, and i like the jammy blues vibe.
Ryan Rickenbach: i feel like you're out in the yard serenading me
through the window. I think there is a generally pleasant song in
the distance.
Tim Hinkle: this instrumentation is funky, between that ethereal
theremin-sounding chorus moan thing, the farting noises and that
fuzz bass. woah and that guitar sound. the music totally makes up
for the uninspiring vocals. coool.

Andre Was Here at Midnight – The guitar intro was nice. When the vocals started, they arent the greatest but I figured what the heck, I've enjoyed song sang by even lesser singers. Then your drumbeat started going off tempo and threw off my equilibrium. This made me fall out of my chair, and it kind of spoiled my mood. Quite frankly, the track would have been better as Guitar and Vocals only, without the off beat R&B drum sounds.
Here Let Me Phunt You – Noise. Piano. A horror movie score maybe? Ok that was ridiculous.
Jute Gyte – Makes me laugh because I just imagined that you've got your scrotum being eaten off by rabid squirrels. I hope you aren't overly serious about your art like most of the guys in your genre. As long as you can laugh at yourself, I love this song. If you and me ever get a conversation about the “Artistic Direction” of your music, I will hate you.
Noise Brigade – Vocals need to be louder, right off the bat. Don't worry about your voice. You sound better then everybody else so far.
Phunt Don't Tell – Ummmmm. No.
Phunt Your Friends – This is actually getting pretty funny now that I realize that this is all the same guy on different email addresses. I'm laughing now. Oobbppbpp-bppppbpbpbbpb-pbppb!!! Is that a sewer pipe? Awesome.
Pure Bi Goted Fashion – Not liking the format or lyrics to this song, even though your production is above average.
Rikgerblick – Nice name. Very funny. You're a good singer dude. Wow. I wouldn't have you singing on this genre of music if it where up to me. Your voice is way more, hmmmm, “Epic”.
Rossdurand – The reversed thing is really cool, but then the song just kind of gets bland. It's very predictable and kind of boring. Makes good elevator music, but as far as listening to an album full of this stuff goes, I probably couldn't.
Ryan Rickenbach – Zillka buck mah nifra zilamafreeda zee buckmen pha. I can't understand you. Don't like the filter on the vocals.
SFO – Is this all instrumental? I'm trying to figure out how this connects to last weeks. Ahhhhhhh! Loud vocals. Freaky child laughing at the end. That's awesome.
Timhinkle – This song gave me a boner. I don't know why. Just kidding. Or am I? Ha ha ha. Don't care for the stereo split up, or the flanger on the guitar track. Your vocals rock though. You've got real singing potential.

Andre Was Here at Midnight
- off-pitch vocals; especially on the chorus
- interesting guitar lope full of possibilities
- neat lyrics; love the "fade away" line
- needs more dynamism or perhaps just more percision
Here, Let Me Phunt You:
- i like that low-bass-rumbling-grinding tone
- sounds like a filler bit from the natural-born killers soundtrack
- otherwise unremarkable
Jute Gyte
- great guitar riff; good, hammering, solid
- the bass breakdown is cool (and very welcome)
- i hate screaming vocals; emoting anger or other negative feels does not always equal an incomprehensible scream (c.f. garbage or even pink floyd); even worse, you're just screaming the same note over and over
- this song meanders too much; it reminds me of early soundgarden: great guitars, lots of possibilities, but lacking craft and focus; 5:20 of that screaming is 5 minutes too long
Noise Brigade
- off-pitch vocals
- not an uninteresting demo, but far from a finished song
- sounds like weezer and would benefit from weezer-style bang-out guitars
Phunt Your Friends
- gasp! a phunt song with something resembling a beat?
- i stand corrected: just endlessly repeated tones; the late inclusion (read: rip-off) of another with an actual beat doesn't count
- that high-toned wind instrument is really annoying
Phunt; Don't Tell
- i remember making noises like this with a plastic tube with i was three
- did you steal those backing keyboard tones from telepopmusik?
Pure Bigoted Fashoin
- great bass groove; love the keyboards, too; very 60's
- the lyrical enjambment is really awesome, the whole tune seems to just tumble along
- would like this to go to a slightly different place at some time; differentiating the chorus, like you suggested, would probably do it
Rik Gerblick
- your vocal style reminds me of someone, but i can't put my finger on it
- a nice, solid song: good groove, nice guitar lick and tones, the percussion is mixed in just right
- but, it's just not grabbing me
Ross Durand
- nice build-up with a good groove
- the disco-like backing vocals are really funny! (if slightly out of tune.)
- needs a break-down
Ryan Rickenbach
- take this song out of its tupperware bowl and it might be really cool
- nice guitar tones
- the lyrics are rather sing-song; working in counter-rhythm or complementing rhythm to the guitar would be welcome
Song Fight Orchestra
- love the bass; kind of reminds me of something from a disney short
- great effects on the vox
Tim Hinkle
- the panning is an interesting production choice; by and large, i think it works, but maybe not for the whole song
- that effect on the lead acoustic guitar is odd; those sharp attacks make it sound like the guitar is farting
- could definitely use some kind of percussion

SFO
I don’t get why everyone’s going gaga over this bass. I mean, is it because it’s so present? Yes, there’s a bass, but there’s nothing special about it. The special things in this song are: the shaky percussive sound and excellent use of vocal arrangement, even though the voice itself isn’t that nice. Second best entry in the fight.
Noise Brigade
Did you say “tree of my life”? Oh dear. The vocals are too quiet, but judging by the lyrics that I can hear, that might be a good thing. I like your voice, and the music isn’t offensive, but it’s generic. I wish I could hear this voice singing soul music instead.
Phunt Your Friends
Wow! I love the “dying cow” sound. It works well with the music. This is awesome. It’s like a wounded cow trying to sing a ballad, but you know…Cows can’t sing (or speak!), plus, it’s in pain so that makes it funnier…Too long, though.
Here, Let Me Phunt You
This is deserving of an “eh”
Phunt Don’t Tell
Good use of rhythm on those weird sounding chords…and how it breaks out into this cheesy techno thing…but all the while, that obnoxious sound keeps going! Haha.
Ryan Rickenbach
Ryan, this is a big improvement for you (though I’m just saying that based on stuff you did a long time ago which I never was a fan of). I love how you made the guitar sound for the picking. The verses of this song are wonderful, as are the chords in the pre-chorus. I don’t like the choruses, though. Good job.
Rik Gerblick
This sounds really bland to me. Are you intentionally singing like that? I would like to hear a song of yours sung with less emotion. It just feels like you’re adding a lot of unnecessary inflection. Maybe not. I don’t know.
Jute Gyte
Haha. This is just one of those things where I don’t feel qualified to comment because of my lack of understanding of the genre. Are those computer-double bass hits? Or are these real drums? I think you did a good job.
Andre Was Here at Midnight
I like the quick transition to the telephone vocal. This could be nice if it was executed better or better arranged. I like the use of double vocal. This is way too long, though...Kind of annoying after a while.
Tim Henkle
I love the fuzz bass and panning and the constant background vocal! The rhythm guitar could be made to sound more dirty. I also love how quickly the song goes into a guitar solo…and the little “gunshot” sounds that occur (randomly?). The vocals are kind of boring, though. Maybe if there were two of them and they were effected with tremolo? That would compliment the other sounds.
Ross Duran
There seems to be a lot of faux-psychedelic references in this fight? Once that awful slap bass came in, I could not listen to this seriously. One good thing are the background vocals.
Pure Bigoted Fashion
I wish this bass was more bassy and not all trebley, you know? That’s my biggest complaint about this track. I love the lack of overbearing guitar and background vocals…Also, the random snippets of noise. Is that a trumpet? Great. The “yeahs” are kind of annoying, but they work with the song. This will be the song I’m voting for.

Personally, I love the tone of this bass. Father Bingo's arpeggiated playing has always captivated me in that ABSIV way. It brings melody, rhythm, chord structure, and
low end all at the same time. I was perfectly happy with the presence of low end, in fct I thought it still a bit on the boomy side. Either way, thanks for the vote, and will you be fighting again any time soon?
