Well Caravan Ray just disqualified himself by splattering Mac and cheese and pizza with his stupid opinion brush, so whatevs.

Not that he needed any further disqualification after his nacho commentary...

It's just past midnight here and I read that as "stupid onion brush".

‘round these parts most of the Mexican joints use crema fresca instead of sour cream. I mean, I’m sure Taco Bell and the like use sour cream. But they don’t really count.

Pizza. Ok yes - melted cheese is allowed on pizza.

I’ve been making my own mozzarella. That’s fun.

As a current Wisconsinite, these bad dairy opinions hurt my soul

I would like to thank this thread for reminding me to go and put my freshly made Greek yoghourt in the fridge just after midnight last night. Would have forgotten otherwise, and then would have had to eat warm yoghourt for breakfast today. Although I think I officially have to call it “Greek style” because I didn’t make it in Greece.

I like cheese in both melted and non-melted forms. Unless it’s made from goat milk, at which point it can go directly to hell.

Homemade black garlic fettuccine with shallot and sage brown butter sauce, and a drizzle of olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar on top.

Yeah!!! thats the stuff Fluffy!! Looks awesome.

And no melted cheese nor extraneous sour dairy products.

Proper food!!

I'd suggest a touch of toasted pine nut may not be unwelcome in that?

Pine nuts are right up there with goat cheese as being fucking disgusting.

(I know, I know, the rest of you love these things. They taste like death in my mouth.)

Bring it all out

I love pine nuts and goats cheese.

But yes. We need to know what disgusts people.

I once had a meal in New Plymouth, New Zealand that had pine nuts in it. I became violently ill - I don't know why - but it is unlikely the pine nuts were involved. Upshot...I could not eat pine nuts for about 5 years...just from the memory.

Now I eat them. and I love them. Give them another go. They are awesome.

I don't know. And this is what makes me uncomfortable . As a middle age angry man in Toowomba, I probably should not have a say in the correct way to melt cheese.

I think every one should just fuck off

I made a fresh corn, cherry tomato, zucchini, scallion, and fresh basil scramble for breakfast. Tastes like summer, I always forget how great fresh corn tastes during the months when I’m eating frozen or canned.

Okay so could we dial back the attacks on people’s personal tastes? I feel like this thread is getting needlessly antagonistic.

I apologise if my hatred of pine nuts and goat cheese came across as an attack on tastes. It’s not. I wish I could eat them. I’ve tried. I’ve even made goat cheese myself and hated that too. Apparently I’m a “super taster” for goat cheese and pine nuts, which makes life very difficult in restaurants as a vegetarian.

Anyway, this seems like a good time to post a picture of one of my favourite meals, made several times over this past week. Butter, mustard seeds, cardamom, fresh ginger, curry leaves, cumin, chilli powder, turmeric, salt, a fresh pineapple, a banana and some coconut milk all cooked together into absolute deliciousness and served over rice.

It's fine to not like things. It's not fine to lambaste other people for liking them.

(And yeah pine nuts have a very strong flavor to some folks. I kind of taste a hint of what people talk about, I can't imagine having that flavor amped up to 11!)
