I am glad you pointed that out, as I wouldn't have noticed. Now if it had been "Drought Beneficiary" or "The First Picture of Sheer Polyester" my brain might have wondered where the title came from enough to look for an explanation.

I notice now that "Standing in the Death Car" is in the 20-years-ago slot on the front page, so it's a very nice bit of congruence and it would have totally passed me by.

So, in the spirit of, if I post here prematurely, maybe I'll summon up the courage to record the vocals ... it's short and it's dirty, and my (new!) bass guitar sounds surprisingly like a Rickenbacker.

I'm in, decided to go for a Mumford and Sons kind of thing, not sure why as I'm not really a fan of the band . I recorded 3 acoustic guitar + vox takes one after the other and was going to neaten it out and slap some fake drums and stuff on but decided against because I really like the live kind of feel it has. So decided to submit it with all the mistakes instead rather than tinker with it too much and damn the consequences .

I've budgeted lots of time on this and still, it's going to sound less than tight, ah well. (I need to practice guitar more, for precisely times like these.) But flexing that vocal range. Sober, if you're reading this, I'm finally belting but maybe not quite the way you meant...

Is it a Rickenbacker? If so, I guess that's good news, but not necessarily if it's a Fender

Should be in, but not with anything wildly out of my comfort zone

I've started doing a thing for this fight but I'm really not sure if it's a good thing or not.

lol It's a cheap copy of a Hofner violin bass, so I have no idea if that's good news or not. But I like the sound anyway

Hofner Ignition Series? I got one of those... it's clacky and really only good for "acoustic" idea recording on my end... looks cool though.

I was just about to press "send" on my entry when I realised the title is Sitting In The Lifeboat and not Sitting On The Lifeboat....so I had to go back and re-record 5 lines of vocals

Well, my lyrics say “standing”, so it’s lucky I haven’t actually recorded anything yet...

Mine says "get in the lifeboat" but whatever.

This title reminded me of an old Sugargliders song - 'Letter form a lifeboat' - so I wrote a stupid response to it...

I'm going to update the site sooner after the deadline than usual, in order to get the new/live fight title up on the homepage.

Details for that fight got announced at the end of the stream Saturday night and are posted here in case anybody hasn't seen it and wants to get started.
