If I come up with an idea for this one, I'm gonna have to do some bowed bass.

Almost done with this one, very uncharacteristic for me.

I switched ideas completely in the middle of this and decided I liked the second one better. In.

Back in a fight with this one after failing to pull lyrics together for Eyes In The Dark, so that's nice. Returning to the synth for this one.

Brown Word in - sans playing instrument how it wasn't meant to be played - I totally forgot and by the time I remembered, everything was in its place.

I'm in. No autotune this time, many of you will be glad to hear.

Song submitted. Boy it is challenging to mix with very dense synths, hopefully it's not too squashed (it's probably too squashed).

Agonized for three days over whether or not I should add a flute or violin part but realized by mediocre skills at both would just make the song worse, as good as it sounded in my head. So I went ahead and submitted a song playing bass in a manner it isn't typically played. Which I often do but I had to note the optional challenge...

In. Completely forgot about the challenge, so I'll just say that there are more guitar parts in this one than usual for me, and guitars are not intended to be played by saxophone players. OK, that's a little weak.

We couldn't bear to write a song about how democracy or the world comes apart under the circumstances, so my wife wrote about some of our favorite humans. Last minute drums from Steve. Some things I would have done differently in the rhythm section otherwise given more time, but I really enjoyed how this one came together, and for once I feel like I have an arrangement that kind of has an arc. Sappy sax features in there for the sax fans, but you have to wait until the instrumental bridge.

I'm almost in. Have bounced, but it's midnight and I've decided to be a grownup and listen again in the morning before sending.

BSS is working on our 250th Song Fight entry as "Berkeley Social Scene", which will be my last in-person collab with the guys for a bit, since Erin and I are moving to Oregon in a couple weeks.

In. Sang into the f-holes of my violin (with the mic on the other hole) on some background vocals, which is a fun way to get weird reverb.

Oh wow I love that idea. I’ll have to steal it someday.

Because of work obligations, I'll have to push this LP out a week to 11/16 at 9pm EST.

I've spent the last 1-2 hours hacking on the Jukebox just so I could figure out that somebody somehow managed to vote for just "Ken" instead of "Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff" when they voted for all the songs. Maybe someday songfight.org will be fancy enough to note allow broken votes like that.

and I thought it was just all the apostrophes that caused all the problems with my band name...
