Where SF and the real world collide

Post by Mogosagatai »

I do this college radio show and every now and then I play songfight stuff, and the other day I figured it might be nice for songfighters to know that their songs are being played, or being used in any fashion really.

So I'm just gonna make a list of SF songs I've played on the radio recently, and maybe mention some other scenarios in which some SF song has played a large role. Free free to add your own "real life applications" of SF songs, like "I used your song to ask someone on a date", or "I started a band called the Vampire Suffragettes", etc....
----------

Stuff I played on a college radio show in New Orleans recently:

Kissing Contest's "Asassinate [sp] Queen Genius"

Lemon Party's "Tomorrow's Almost Over"

Blind Mime Ensemble's "The Blue Signal"

A Kid Named Ace's "Need Stilts" (during that, a guy called and was like, "Hey, if you like that song, you should check out the winner of that fight!" and I was pleased to speak to someone who knew about SongFight)

Milwaukee Youth Center Choir's "Red Robot"

ADD's "Don't Dance"

Carol Cleveland Sings "Direct to Helmet"

Frankie Big Face's "Crinkle Binkle"

Brother Machine's "Feathers" and "Happy Machine Ankle"

Abominominous's "Red Zero"

Hoblit's "Accelerator"

redcar's "Save a Pony from the Glue Factory"

20 Minute Parody Merchant's "Troublemaker"

Roy Castle's "Direct to Helmet"

JBB's "Man Of The Year"

Xiu House Rocks!'s "Space Cadet"

Urine Luck's "Bird Of Our Own"

The Student's "World Of Screens"

Melon Like Heads's "Last Date"

Gil Sans's "Midnight Rendezvous" (seriously, though--was that Lou Reed?)

The White Hat's "Twenty One"

Johnny Cashpoint's "Hands Up"

Jefferson's "Step Up"

Forty Second Songs's "Crinkle Binkle"

c.layne's "Between The Rain"

sonofsupercar's "Martians are Going to Eat Us"

Hostess Mostess's "Totally Diggin' Your Mom"

Lonbobby's "Hold My Calls"

Sandcastle Surgery's "Feet"

Nil's "I LOVE YOU"

Jute Gyte's "Fire Bomb"

-----------------------

Hmm. I also sampled Klownhole's "Polaris" for Tiggernaut's "Piece of My Heat".

That's all I can think of for now, but I may occasionally add to this. Like I said, feel free to do the same.

Very cool.

Once, I put in 'it's a fight christmas' at a party in random rotation with other christmas CD's. Octothorpe's Little Drummer Boy came on and somebody was air drumming and singing along to it subconsciencely. I thought that was kind of neat.

Also, I think it would be a real good idea to make another Songfight Christmas CD in the future. I've totally improved since the first one.

Also, let us know if you get calls with people going 'WOW, who was that and where can I get more?!' .
