- If you would like me to cover one of your songs, pick three of your Song Fight! songs for me to choose from. Either list those three songs in this thread or PM the list to me (user name Jerkatorium).
- Your songs must be Song Fight! submissions; I’m only covering songs that competed in actual Song Fights, not Nur Ein, not SpinTunes.
- Your songs must have the lyrics posted somewhere: Ye Olde Lyric Archive, or posted in this thread, or sent via PM.
- Many of the covers will be ‘reinterpretations’, so you have to be okay with the possibility that I might turn your sweet soulful acoustic number into ska trash, or turn your heavy metal masterpiece into K-Pop, or turn your emo alt-rock into 70’s disco.
- I intend to prioritize covering songs from bands I’ve never covered before. If Hanky Code or Jerkatorium has already covered one of your songs in the past then I’ll be glad to cover another one of your songs if you want me to, but it might take a while for me to get to it.

Hanky Code wants to cover your song
My foray into ‘covering random songs from the archive’ was fun enough, but I get the feeling that half of the original artists will never know about the cover version of their song, and the other half didn’t want their song covered in the first place. I can avoid those drawbacks by simply asking if any of you would like me to cover one of your songs. So here’s the deal:

I'll sign up! This is very nice of you to do. I'll submit the following songs:

High and Higher
I Can't Turn It Off
PM me if you'd like sheet music. I have it for High and Higher and I Can't Turn It Off, but I have unfortunately lost my files for Do You Have a Plan.

Without even listening to it, Cassini sounds like a song I should cover.

No regerts. Already working on the first cover. In the meantime if anybody wants to cover anything on any of those lists (maybe Hot Pink Halo doing Cassini?), you absolutely should do that.

Hmmmmmmm, sure, I'm always stoked about Phlebia covers. I don't think you've covered me, but you did contribute guitar work to Personal Space (which came out great).

Re: Hanky Code wants to cover your song
Sorry this has taken so long, but the first cover is done - it's Lichen Throat's "High and Higher".
And hooray! I scored an excellent guest vocalist for this one! Chumpy is doing the vocals for this number, you lucky lucky bastards.
Fair warning: I didn't bother with the 11/8 time signature, and I put my own spin on it, effectively stripping it of the qualities that made the original song interesting and inventive. The original can be heard at http://www.songfight.org/music/high_and ... at_hah.mp3
I wish I could promise to have the next cover done more quickly, but other projects are stealing focus so the next cover probably won't be finished until sometime in March.

Re: Hanky Code wants to cover your song
I love this! I tried to pick songs where I thought the music was solid but my original vocal could be improved upon. Of the three I submitted, this was the one I though you'd be least likely to do. Shows what I know.
With regard to your transfer from 11/8 to 4/4, I basically sang the original as 4/4 with three extra instrumental eighth notes at the end of each line, which you apparently recognized. I like hearing this song with vocals that are well-performed and interesting, in contrast to my monotone. I especially like the harmonies in the last line. I definitely felt like you kept the original spirit while also making enough changes to make it seem a lot different.
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!

Re: Hanky Code wants to cover your song
Thinking back, I can't remember why I chose High and Higher from your list. It was probably due to the chorus, which I kept pretty faithful to your original. Each of those were good options, I probably just enjoyed High and Higher most out of the three.
I'm extremely happy to hear that you liked the cover, thank you for that feedback. It makes me even more motivated to attack the other covers.

Originally a really cool G&G number, I added some instruments and found the perfect voice for lead vocals: Smalltown Mike! You rotten bastards don’t deserve it this good, but here it is anyway.
